Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal
footlongcomiskeydog replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) 2 points that have already been made numerous times... 1. If we can't develop a talent like Robles we are doomed anyway. 2. If you wait on premium young talent in the minors they will only gain value and be harder to get. And you can't make moves scared. It's just a ridiculous notion that you wouldn't trade for a great talent because you're scared he won't develop. That's how you build a losing franchise. What are you expecting back anyway? Already proven young all-star talent? Not going to happen, and even if it does trading Sale for 1 premium talent does nothing to help us. I keep seeing "we can't lose the Sale trade"...well of course we are going to lose in the Sale trade right now. It would be nearly impossible to get full value for Sale right away. What we have to hope for is that we win the deal 3-4 years down the line when Sale is getting a mega contract and we have 3 cheap, young starting players in return. There's going to be risk involved, no avoiding it when you're rebuilding. So you can either take chances or you can sit on your players because you're too scared to trade them and continue to lose like this franchise has for a decade +. Great post. Hits the nail directly on the head. As a wise weed dealer once told me, "scared money don't make money". My main concern is that this front office is absolutely snake bitten and is indeed scared out of their collective minds at the thought of trading Sale and actually commencing on a rebuild. They are scared at what the local media will write if they don't appear to totally win the Sale trade on paper, they are afraid of the fans reaction and an empty ballpark all summer long, they are afraid of the nearly flawless baseball behemoth on the North Side of town. Scared people and organizations tend to stick to familiar patterns. It has already begun with the tendering of Avi and Lawrie in fact. I'm afraid no major trades will be made this offseason and the Sox will stick with dumpster diving in an attempt to patch holes at C, CF, and the bullpen. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) 11 years ago the Cubs looked like they'd never get out of mediocrity and the Sox looked poised for a dynasty run. Things can change in baseball. The Sox were never poised for a dynasty run. How quickly things collapsed after 06 is proof of that. I just see the Sox going the route of San Diego or Milwaukee unfortuntely. An irrelevant franchise who is forever stuck in the middle.

My real concern is will we ever see another World Series Championship on the South Side of Chicago? It's been 11 years since 05. 11 years can snowball into 30 or 40 very quickly. I have no confidence in the clown college that is currently running the show at 35th and Shields and its tough to see any light at the end of tunnel. Rick Hahn should be forced to wear a dunce hat to the Winter meetings. Dude has been in over his head since day 1. Other thing is that this Cub team isn't going away anytime soon. They have an elite core and will be playing baseball every October for the next 4-5 years. The Sox couldn't even make the playoffs in 06 and were a last place team in 07. Theo and company will not allow that to happen on the North Side.

World Series: Indians vs. Cubs

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 04:58 AM) Bookmarked! Never been so sad to be so right. If not this year, it would've been next year. If not next year, the year after that. The gauntlet has been thrown. Baseball is on high alert and has been put on notice. The Cubs are here and they are going to be here for quite sometime. I've never been this shook before. #facepalm I hope you put your $ where your mouth is dude. I did pretty nice by dropping some coin after the Cubs went down 3 games to 1. Didn't someone on here drop over 2K on the Indians last night? That has to hurt big time and was a terrible bet in retrospect. The tribe pitching looked completly out of gas the last few games. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) This. A million times, this. That Davis home run was a complete fluke. The Cubs just flat out wanted it more and are the better team. When you have Goliath down on the ground, you better put the dagger through his skull. The tribe couldn't do that. -

How many strikeouts does Cleveland pitching have tonight? Maybe one or two? -

The tribe just cannot finish this Cubs team off. Here comes murders row for the Cubs. Gonna take a miracle for Shaw to get out of this inning unscathed. -

The tribe just can't put the dagger in this Cubs team. Crisp should have been running much earlier in the count last inning. -

The Tribe won't even get another baserunner in this game. Hopefully this collapse gets into their heads and the Sox can kick their ass next year. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) In MLB it's been a long time for any team to win back to back WS. Weren't the Marlins last to do that? I'm not saying they are gonna necessarily go back to back, but they are lights years better than any of the Giants teams that won every other year 3X. -

QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) My fiancé is in the city to experience it and I am wearing my Sox stuff at home. It's peaceful and I fully expect people to be outside cheering as this is the biggest championship in some time. I'm in Lincoln Square. Gonna take a walk down Lawrence avenue with the pup when the Cubs finish this s*** off. Should be some good fireworks. I got like 3 or 4 firefighters on my block. Those dudes are gonna put on a show I suspect. -

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Amen brother. I'm wearing my 2005 gear Thursday for the cub party at work. I'll echo that amen. I just hope that we get to see another championship in our lifetime. 11 years can snowball into 30 or 40 pretty quickly. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) These at bats are amazing. Reacting like the know what's coming This Cubs team is scary good. They remind me a lot of the 2010 and 13 Blackhawks. An elite core surrounded by ridiculous depth. There are gonna be multiple championships on the North Side of Chicago over the next few years unfortunately. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) Unf***ing real, even Miller is flopping tonight. The Cubs are simply the better team and want it more. Not rocket science. The Tribe are trying to win a WS with basically 4 pitchers. -

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Doubt it. They are having a cub's party tomorrow at work The tribe can barely turn a double play on a Scharwber routine ground ball. They have as much chance of coming back tonight as I have with sleeping with Kate Upton. -

A pop gun offense and terrible defense is not how you win a world series. Cubs making the tribe look like a AAA team out there. -
