  1. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 11:15 PM) Whatever. The fouls were basically even, so were the free throws. They might have had a couple of calls, but another ref might have fouled out Durant with over 3 minutes to go too on that charge/block. The Thunder shot more free throws than the Heat in a game where 1/3 of their shots were threes. I'm not getting the whining about the officials at all tonight.
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Lebron faces an immediate double in the post and he doesnt have a huge size advantage against OKC. He was getting double teamed in the post and they had a big man ready to help every time he drove to the basket. Miami's spacing was brutal tonight and Bosh and Wade shooting horribly makes it really tough for him to have space to operate.
  3. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) I dont care what the spineless writer is trying to do to make people who didn't get the movie hate him less, I only go by what I see in the movie. I'm not a huge fan of Lindelof (although he is very creative) but I haven't seen him shy away from criticism in the past. In fact, he has basically flat out stated he doesn't care if someone doesn't like the Lost ending because he wrote the ending he wanted. It is far more likely that Lindelof's stated reason is true then he gave an interview giving an explanation to appease people who weren't happy with the movie. And please do explain what I didn't get about the movie. The themes of the movie, where do we come from, what makes us human (explored and dealt with much better in Blade Runner fwiw), why are we are here, god v. science, are all interesting themes but they aren't dealt with in a meaningful or profound way. Instead, the movie raises questions it never answers and has characters that consistently take actions that are either illogical or for which we can see no motive for the sole purpose of progressing the plot.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 10:11 AM) Also, it's a pretty good explanation of David's motivations. He was built as a tester, he asks Holloway if he's willing to do anything to learn more prior to putting the black stuff in his drink. That was permission. I think this movie is being shredded by people who aren't really thinking it through. There might be one or two "huh?" moments, but beyond that the movie explained things rather well. Except that this isn't correct according to Damon Lindelof who has indicated in an interview that Weyland directed David to spike the drink which would make absolutely no sense given that they have no idea what the liquid is.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) Hey, whitesoxfan99, have you actually seen the movie? Yes and I posted in this thread already.

  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) Man that ending pissed me off.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) Since that pathetic loss to Indianapolis, LeBron is averaging 33.3ppg, 11.1rpg, 5.1apg, 1.1 3pg, 1.2bpg, 1.4spg over his last 10. He's at 30.8, 9.6, 5.1, 1.2, 0.8, 1.9 for the playoffs - 18 games. What a disappointment. What a choker. Last year? Ok, dog the guy. This year? You just can't. And even last year you can really only criticize him for the finals. He was fantastic against the Bulls and Celtics which makes it even more bizarre that he deferred so much to Wade in the NBA finals.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) I haven't had much time to get into video games again until recently and I just finished Mass Effect 3 after getting through half of it a few months ago. That was the worst ending ever and Casey Hudson should be launched into space forever. Christ that was terrible. The other 99.99% of the game was amazing. I really enjoyed the rest of the game minus the ending but it was still pretty flawed (i.e. but those were all things I could have overlooked if the ending wasn't as bad as it was. I actually question the intelligence of anyone who likes the ending.
  10. I guess I am in the minority in not really caring for Prometheus. I wanted to like it and it had some interesting concepts but I felt like it completely failed to deliver on its promise. The movie had too many plot holes for me to get past and the characters were woefully underdeveloped, particularly David. I am fine with a movie not spelling everything out for the audience but Lindelof's writing style of answering basically nothing annoys the hell out of me.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Wow. That '99 season was so garbage I just pretend it never happened (lol@Malone winning the mvp). Well, both players were well past their primes by that point. Ewing was injured and didn't play in the finals.
  12. Dwayne Wade is killing the Heat. It is almost like he wasn't happy with all the attention Lebron was getting after game 6. Way too much running the offense through Wade tonight for the Heat.
  13. I'm surprised when Gavin goes an inning without giving up a run at this point.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 10:30 PM) If they lose this series, I have to assume Spoelstra gets sh*tcanned. He should get fired. He is an absolutely terrible basketball coach.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) Ugh I hate cheering for Boston but yay! I'm not, I actually dislike Boston more than Miami.
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 10:27 PM) Meh, he was doubled and fading, it would have been a stupid shot if he'd taken it. Then again, Kobe takes a ton of those and everyone thinks he's super-clutch. Agree with this. He made the right play but the pass got deflected by Dooling or else Haslem gets a wide open look to win the game. Kobe would have shot that and missed horribly.
  17. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Maybe not, Lebron fouls out on a similar play. Garnett's was legit, the LeBron one wasn't. Garnett held LeBron's arm to prevent him from helping out on Rondo's drive.
  18. LOL at that call on LeBron. Horrid officiating in this game. I don't think any of Lebron's last 3 fouls were called correctly and Pierce's 6th was a joke.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 30, 2012 -> 10:40 PM) Wow, Wade hits Rondo in the face - no call. Then he comes down and jump kicks Garnett and somehow it's a foul on KG. Why am I watching this? The missed foul on Rondo was really bad but good luck seeing the kick in real time when there was a lot of contact by Garnett up top. That would have taken an incredible piece of officiating by the refs to catch that one.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) <!--quoteo(post=2609593:date=May 28, 2012 -> 08:45 PM:name=SleepyWhiteSox)-->QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ May 28, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) <!--quotec-->Rarely do I mention this, but excellent officiating... This is definitely not a travel Everyone is allowed to take 3 steps in the NBA. Not worth complaining about.
  21. Alex Rios so close to having an absolutely epic today.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 25, 2012 -> 08:37 AM) A game? The Pacers took 2 and the Celtics are only going to take 1? Without Bosh, this could easily go 7. The Celtics are simply a more disciplined team than the Pacers. They can get under the Heat's skin too...but they will also run smarter offense and defense. Avery Bradley is out for the playoffs and Ray Allen is clearly not healthy and is playing bad basketball. The Celtics aren't a very strong team right now.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 24, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) When Wade is on there just are to many problems for a defense. Its just so hard to deal with a pick and roll, because a big guy like Hibbert gets stuck to far out, or to deep under the basket on the switch. Im thinking the Heat may sweep the next series. The real test would be a team like OKC, who can play at a similar scoring pace and they have Durant. Depends on if Bosh plays and is healthy. If he isn't the Celtics or Sixers will steal at least a game.
  24. I wonder when Danny Granger will learn to keep his mouth shut. He isn't near good enough to run his mouth the way he always does.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 23, 2012 -> 10:50 PM) I still don't think the sixers are that good. But their defense is stellar. They're undersized and don't have any shot-blockers. But they are extremely quick and athletic. They aren't good. They struggled to beat a Bulls team without Noah and Rose and are now playing an old and beat up Celtics team. Ray Allen clearly isn't healthy and Avery Bradley has missed the last couple of games with an injury.
