  1. I'm about to put the Illinois game on mute, wow Tim Doyle freaking sucks. The BTN really needs to stop hiring no talent hacks from NW. Shon Morris and Doyle are brutal.
  2. Jim Burr is such a f***ing joke. He has no business reffing college games. That technical he called on Green was ridiculous. There is almost no chance it had an impact on the outcome but that was pathetic on his part.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Palehose, I'm a big fan of Williams, but his game doesn't translate well to the NBA level right now. Thompson's wing span is insane, which should boost him up the ranks. Also, I thought I heard Kanter might stay another year at Kentucky. Unless something has changed, there is no way Kanter isn't in this upcoming draft. He was ruled permanently ineligible so there wouldn't be any reason for him to stay at Kentucky another year.
  4. For Illinois fans, Illinois offered Max Biefeldt yesterday. Not sure how I feel about this. That kid is a tremendous high school player (I'm not sure there is a better high school player in the state, but he wouldn't be in my top 10 for ranking prospects), is highly skilled for a big man, and he adds toughness. But he is undersized and not particularly athletic which is obviously a huge concern. I think more than anything this speaks to just how awful the 2012 HS basketball class is in Illinois.
  5. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Purdue is very physical on D...lots of hand-checking and contact. That's not a complaint -- I think it's good coaching and particularly good strategy against Illinois who can't handle the ball. But I do think it's interesting that some teams can play that style without the officials lowering the boom and other teams rack up touch foul after touch foul. I don't really get why that is... And lest anyone think otherwise, I think Illinois lost this game today because Purdue is a much better team, not because of officiating. I'm not complaining the officials being unfair.... Purdue's entire defensive strategy is to foul on every single possession because the refs won't call them all and a lot of times refs will let more contact go as the game goes on. I have yet to see a Purdue game where the other team should have been called for more fouls than Purdue. It is insane how many fouls they get away with.
  6. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Richmond, like a lot of players and coaches at Illinois, does seem unlikable. But, you know, there's lots of players in recent memory with the same level of obnoxiousness. DeMarcus Cousins comes to mind, although at least he had a dominant game to along with the arrogance. Paul should start. McCamey should be on the bench. It's mind-boggling how McCamey's game has disappeared. He doesn't seem injured but the difference between the non-conference season and now is enough to make you wonder if there isn't an underlying physical reason behind the decline. Right now, Paul is a better point guard which is shocking. I have never seen a player fall off the way McCamey has. To go from an all american and a guy that a lot of NBA scouts had in the 1st round to a guy that is frankly terrible is hard to fathom.
  7. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Weren't some fans thinking Meyers could be a one and done? The dude is so bad everytime I see him. Seems like he has a ton of potential, he just plays dumb and does more whining with Richmond than anything else. There were some stupid fans based on his length and athleticism but every team has fans that over hype players. I think and have always thought Leonard could be an early entry guy because there just aren't very many 7 footers with his athleticism but it clearly wasn't going to be this year. I think Leonard will be a very solid player next year but not special and then will be a great player as a junior and that will be when he could possibly go pro.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) It's funny, basically since the pilot episode, I HATED the football scenes from the show. It was so much better for the drama off the field than on it. Agreed. Some of the football scenes were well down but others were just absolutely horrible. And way too many games came down to a final play, that just doesn't happen often in football.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) I wasn't necessarily emotional when watching FNL finale, but when it was over, it definitely made me sad that we'll never see another episode. I already can't wait for 3 years down the road when Becky is in a movie with straight hair and I'm going to be like "that girl is so hot, she was on FNL." I thought it was a solid episode. Some of it seemed a little forced (which is the case with most series finales) but I thought it was really well done and I'm going to miss the show.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 11:10 AM) It looked like the most intense game Illinois has played in quite awhile though, McCamey finally played with a purpose. If they had played with that intensity all year they would have at least 4 more wins (IU, UIC, PSU, NW) and would be ranked around 10th in the country.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) Everyone knows that I'm a mid major guy but if they don't win the WAC tourny, there's no way in hell they deserve an at large, but they'll probably slide in like UTEP did last year but unlike last years Miners, Utah State doesn't even pass the eye test. I was looking through Utah St.'s game logs from the last few years and they play basically nothing but awful basketball teams all year long and outside of a victory against BYU last year whenever they face a real team they lose.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) Deron's a good guy...compared to the other two members of the big three from Illinois (Dee and Head), he's an absolute saint. I would say this is probably a case of fame getting the best of him. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that DWill is ultra competitive and outside of Millsap and Jefferson that roster sucks.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Can't get the spoiler tab to work, but there's some more evidence out there that Zooey might be the mother. Again, Zoey is not the mother. Go back and watch the first episode of the season. Ted tells his kids that the day he met their mother was the day of a wedding he was the best man at. That isn't how he met Zoey and if they make her the mother it is awful writing.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) No but they did lose to MSU when they were up by 9 with less than 2 minutes left. Its just hard to imagine that a team can be so much different on the road when it comes to shooting. You should look up Illinois's stats this year. Ridiculous home road split.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 9, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) Wisconsin is going to lose to Iowa. Unbelievable but they just wont get it done. Not going to change anything in terms of the season, just will make the game against OSU not as important because who cares if you beat OSU if you cant beat Iowa. This team can be so frustrating. At least your team hasn't lostevery single games this year that came down to the final minute. At Wisconsin is the only game that Illinois lost all year that they didn't have a chance to win in the final minute.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I thought it was excellent, the plot isnt really why I watch it, the parts with Jason Segel living at home were priceless. And I watched the first episode of Shameless last night, Wow. The Segal parts were funny. I am just so freaking sick of Ted and I thought the parts with Katy Perry and Barney weren't funny.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) I agree with the above but after last night I started to feel like they are just going to try and smooth over those problems.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) How do we know she's not the mom?
  19. So after a run of pretty good episodes I thought HIMYM was pretty bad last night. It might be because I think the Zoey storyline is awful and pointless but I guess we will see where they go with it. She clearly is not the mother and I fail to see how Ted having yet another failed major relationship adds anything to the show.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 8, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) Well Boozer just doesnt understand how to defend the pick and roll. There are only 2 options, switch or dont switch. Every time him and Rose have gone to the same guy, while Deng could rotate over the end result would be a man being wide open with the next pass. Boozer/Rose cant take the same guy on a pick and roll. So very odd. Boozer is just completely worthless on the defensive end in general. His value comes from his rebounding and offensive game but against teams with legit big men he just kills you on the defensive end.
  21. How the f*** do people watch Glee? Wow is that show f***ing terrible.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) And I continue to say that penalties should be reviewable. Face masks sure, but most other penalties are too subjective to review.
  23. BTW fathom I think you will like two of the recent suggestions I've seen from fans in the event Weber is fired: Jeff Capel or Craig Robinson. Robinson I can at least see the possibility of him doing really well at Illinois because him and Howard would probably do extremely well recruiting Chicago but I'm not sold on his coaching whatsoever. If Capel is hired I would riot.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 6, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) As the game is about to start, I want the Steelers to win. It will kill me to see the jagbag Roethlisberger win another ring, but after seeing all these Packers fans still rubbing the Bears loss in my face today, people mind you that I have never said a word to, I want Pitt to win. I didn't care when my alarm went off this morning, but now I am biased. I hope Roethlisberger blows out his knee (and I seriously mean that) on the first series of the game and then the Steelers win it without Roethlisberger contributing.
