  1. Taylor Battle is just tossing up garbage and it is going in tonight.
  2. Ugh, Mike Davis has missed two wide open 4 footers in the 2nd half. How about taking a dribble and dunking when you are 6'9 and athletic? No lets flip up a one handed shot. I give up, I just do
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) In the end no matter what I think of the refs all Wisconsin had to do was hold the ball instead of attacking the basket at 135 left. Rob Wilson just made a mistake there and he will never hear the end of it. Before this game started I said that it wouldnt be worse than the football loss to MSU, but I dont know this was just terrible. The good news is they appear to be a tournament team, just I think this game was the difference between a shot at the Big 10 title. Wisconsin is a tournament lock but I just don't think this team is as talented as Bo's past teams. I like Taylor and Leuer a lot but the rest of that team is just incredibly mediocre at best. But when you basically never turn the ball over and play solid defense you will be in just about every single game.
  4. Great D down the stretch and Mike Davis decided to actually get closer to the basket on offense and made a couple of nice moves.
  5. So typical out of this senior class against a lesser opponent. Just a complete no show again today. Mike Davis being Mike Davis today.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) Should Bill Cole really be starting over Richmond? Cole has been playing great basketball of late so yes. And Richmond is still getting just as many minutes as him anyways.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) Defenses that can make open field tackles defeat the spread offenses. The read option which Oregon runs in their "go-go" is primarily a running offense designed to beat team that overpursue. However it is weak against stronger teams and teams that tackle in space. Oregon's offense has looked more than pedestrian in their last two bowl games scoring 17 and 19 points yet tearing up the Pac-10 year in and year out. I still favor the more conventional pro offense, which spread is more focused on passing. I think it also helped both OSU and Auburn that they had over a month to prepare for Oregon's offense. If you have to face them with only a weak to prepare those games might go differently. I don't think Oregon score at will, but I doubt they get held to 17 or 19 pts which is one of the major problems with the BCS.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) I love the college game but I always feel robbed of something after the National Championship game to be honest. Yes, the regular season is fantastic but I'm so f***in over the BCS. It is ridiculous to decide the national championship with just one game like this and even more ridiculous to do it over a month after both teams finished their regular seasons. This isn't the same game and these really aren't the same teams we would have seen if the game was played a month ago. Until the NCAA adopts a playoff frankly the championship isn't completely legit.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:23 AM) He personally bores the hell out of me. I can't get enough of him. Over the top indeed but I love it. At the end of close games or during tournament time I like Gus Johnson, the rest of the time I just find him irritating.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) I cant listen to Gus Johnson anymore because of Madden (he is one of the announcers). I can only listen to Gus Johnson in small doses, otherwise he just drives me nuts.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:13 AM) I take the over. I'll go with the 5-6 year range. And talk about an anti-climactic ending. Least exciting game that I have ever seen that ended with a game winning drive.
  12. I'm putting the over under at 2 years until this championship is vacated
  13. Trevor Mbakwe arrested for violating a restraining order, more issues for Minnesota.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) Are you 100% sure of that? He's a very good player, but there are quite a few players in the B10 that are having better seasons than him. That is factually false but I'd like to see you try to name the "quite a few players" having a better season than McCamey. There are guys that you can argue are having better seasons but there really isn't a single player having a season clearly better than McCamey. Tied for firsts in assists (2nd in assist rate), 9th in scoring (but 5th in TS%), shooting 52% from 3, over 50% from the floor.
  15. Devoe Joseph officially transferring from Minny. Their perimeter play is really weak now. Williams is a freak athlete but not a good basketball player, Nolen is awful on the offensive end of the court. Hoffarber is obviously really good. The rest of those guys are mediocre at best.
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Does Illinois have more dunks than NU has FG's? I think they might... I think the fact that they only have 6 rebounds after 23 minutes is the most astounding stat in this game.
  17. Mike Davis is playing fantastic basketball the last week. He has been so active the last few games and has been contributing without his jumper falling which is just huge for this team.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) He's a hero at his school, growing his legacy each game that he play (can you imagine the tail this guy gets?) He's the front runner for the Heisman next year. His team has an outside shot of winning a national title. Oh, and he enjoys school and is excited about obtaining his degree from a prestigious university. On the other hand, he can go to the NFL and earn his millions but play for a terrible team for years and years and have to deal with constant negative media scrutiny and 1000 times the pressure. Pretty easy decision for me. Take out an insurance policy. Dude's gonna make tons of money no matter what he decides. You can easily get a degree after you are done playing in the NFL or even take classes during the offseason and the quality of girls he would get as a star quarterback in the NFL with a 70+ million dollar contract are certainly higher than what he gets at Stanford if that is factoring into his decision at all. And there is no reason why Carolina would be terrible for years if Luck is as good as people think he might be. Bradford almost had his team in the playoffs this year, Manning had the Colts in the playoffs in year 2, and there are countless other examples. If you have an elite quarterback in the NFL you win games. And while you can take out an insurance policy, he won't make near the money of that policy that he would in the NFL. Now I don't have a problem with Luck staying in school because he enjoys the college lifestyle and wants to win a National Championship but it is a pretty big risk to stay at Stanford when you don't know who your coach is going to be and the ever present possibility of getting seriously injured.
  19. Jadeveon Clowney is by far the best player in the Under Armour game. Unreal
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) CHAMPS. Suck it Mallet. Andrew Luck>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ryan Mallett
  21. Also, while I posted that the Big 10 was short on playmakers at the skill positions this year what a year for the conference on the dline. Liuget, Heyward, Clayborn, Kerrigan, Watt, etc. Just a ton of top level d lineman in the conference..
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 3, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Ryan Mallet hasnt played yet. I still dont know if Luck is the #1 QB. I think Luck is #1 and it isn't particularly close. He is a very good athlete, has good size, can make all the throws and he is very accurate.
  23. Really nice win by Illinois today. The SRs played great and Brandon Paul played really well which was key since DJ had an off today and Richmond was limited by the achilles injury.
  24. Also, let me say this about the Big 10, it is incredible how unathletic the conference looked today. Very few playmakers out there in comparison to the teams they were facing.
