  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) Close games and upsets are 100% the reason the NCAA tourney is so popular, nobody watches it because there may be pro-caliber players in the game. Some of the best NCAA games of all time featured players that never sniffed an NBA career. See I guess my problem with this is that a close game doesn't make a game enjoyable for me to watch. This game was absolutely terrible to watch even though it was close. The fact that the last minute might be entertaining doesn't erase the 39 minutes of garbage that I had to watch before that.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) It has been one of the best ever judging by upsets and last second shots. Nobody cares that every player isnt pro caliber since its college sports, you are stupid if you expect every game to be a showcase of highly skilled players. MSU got homered pretty good in that game, but I think either team will be stomped by the Duke/WVU winner. I expect that once you get to the Sweet 16 and beyond that the games will be played at a pretty highly level and they are year in and year out. There have been very few really good games after the first round. The first day of the tournament was a ton of fun and since then there hasn't been much to get excited about. Most of the 2nd round games weren't close, the Sweet 16 games were terrible for the most part and 2 of the 4 elite games were fun to watch. Add in a terrible start to the final 4 and this hasn't been a great tourney.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) I love college basketball more than anything, but this is terrible. Summers is a decent player, but he looks like an NBA guy compared to the rest of the horrible talent on the court. I love college basketball as well, but this tournament other than the first day has been pretty brutal to watch. The only good games last weekend were Xavier/KSU, MSU/Tenn, and Duke Baylor. The rest of the games were brutal to watch and really after the first day of the tournament the first weekend was pretty boring as well (other than KU/Northern Iowa, MSU/Maryland, and a couple of others).
  4. BTW I love how defensive college basketball fans that aren't big NBA fans can be about the quality of college basketball. I started a thread on an Illinois board about how terrible the quality of play has been throughout this tournament and got attacked by people saying this has been one of the greatest tournaments ever. The first day was amazing and there has been 3 or 4 good games since then but nearly every game last weekend was horrible.
  5. This MSU/Butler game is horrendous and indicative of how awful college basketball is this year.

Pretty mediocre episode tonight after an amazing episode last week. But after the last two weeks I'm really excited about where the show is headed in the last few episodes.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Tim Floyd rejoins the college ranks. I'd have hired him in a heartbeat. UTEP gets probation within 5 years.
  8. I got 49/50 and would have had 50/50 but couldn't spell Tskitishvili
  9. Nice to finally see some high level basketball after the last couple of days. MSU/Tenn game has been really good.
  10. BTW is it just me or has this tournament really sucked outside of the first day? Obviously there have been some great games (MSU/Maryland, Xavier/KSU, etc.) but for the most part outside of the first day there has been blowouts and terrible basketball being played.
  11. There wasn't any #1 seeds in 05-06 which was also a tournament filled with terrible basketball and no great teams.
  12. This is an incredibly awful basketball game.
  13. I'm getting sick of watching terrible basketball during the NCAA tourney. When does the NBA playoffs start so I can watch players actually make shots.
  14. Curtis Shaw is a f***ing joke. He has no business refereeing any college basketball game let alone an elite 8 game.
  15. Why are refs like Curtis Shaw and Jim Burr allowed to do Elite 8 games?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Classy guy. Didn't stick around at all. He has been a complete asshole on the court the entire season. Why change in his final college game?
  17. Both Sweet 16 games tonight have featured truly terrible basketball. Unforced turnovers all over the place along with unbelievably terrible shot selection.
  18. Syracuse seriously sucked today. What an embarrassing performance. Also, does Rick Jackson have hands?
  19. The Big East is garbage.
  20. I don't know where else to post this but The Inbetweeners (an English comedy) is one of the funniest shows in existence. Not as good on American TV since so much of it is edited or bleeped out but still hilarious.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) Nope, he seems to be a really good kid from what people say about him. Something that's very important is that some of the players with poor work ethics leave the program before they set a bad example for some of the superior talents coming in. If you have guys like McCamey and Davis showing Richmond/Leonard/Head how to go through the motions, then that's a disaster waiting to happen. Davis is such an incredibly frustrating player. He doesn't box out, doesn't provide help side defense, and still refuses to go up strong on offense yet he puts up a double double on a consistent basis. If he ever develops any mental toughness and plays hard all the time he would be such a stud. Hopefully since he only has one year left the light goes on since it will be his last chance to showcase himself to pro scouts. See also Warren Carter and Brian Cook (Cook was always more talented than Davis be also would disappear far too often).
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) My prediction is that 2 seasons from now, Tyler Griffey will be the best player on Illinois' roster. He's going to be a very good player. He has a lot of work to do on defense and with his rebounding but he is going to be a fantastic offensive player for sure. And I'm not worried about him becoming at least an adequate defender and rebounder.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 09:49 PM) You see Keller give Weber a bad look after being removed following his tip dunk? Everything I've heard about Keller is that he's just a huge cancer in the locker room. I despise Keller and it is rare for me to truly hate a college athlete that isn't getting into trouble off the court but he is so selfish and he was told when he was recruited his role was a junkyard dog type but he never accepted it.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Tisdale's 2nd half was quite comical. 2 missed layups, and then fouling out about 10 seconds after being brought back in the game. Dayton's too quick for him anyways....if you didn't hear Jimmy Dykes say that 2,000 times. Jimmy Dykes is Mike Patrick bad as an announcer. I have no idea how some of these guys have jobs. No effort at all from the juniors tonight. And at least if Illinois loses I will never have to watch Keller play basketball again.
  25. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) I'm missing something, did Wisconsin win? Big 12 has 3 sweet 16 teams as well. Kansas' and A&M's losses were bad, but the Big Ten has just played to seed. Can't say by far the best. Big 12 has 2 don't they? Kansas St. and Baylor are all that is left.
