    2015 TV Thread

I'm surprised the Walking Dead is already starting the Alexandria Safe Zone story line. Depending on how they handle this arc they will catch up to the comics within the next couple of seasons.
  2. Just an awful game by Nunn. Another great look that he missed.
  3. Terrible foul by Rice. No need to be reaching like that when it is a 1 possession game.
  4. Horrible defense by Illinois in the 2nd half. When Nairn is in the game don't even guard him until he shows he can make a shot. And when Dawson is in the mid-post just stay behind him. He has no post moves and he can't shoot. And after playing a great game at MSU Egwu has been horrible tonight. He is doing an absolutely dreadful job on the high ball screens.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 20, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) Meh. Sometimes I feel like people get way too excited about transfers. Sure sometimes teams strike gold, but a lot of the time, there is a reason why the school is letting the kid transfer in the first place. It depends on the transfer. When it is a kid like Alex Legion who hasn't proven anything yet and wasn't productive at his prior stop there is a reason to be very skeptical. If it is someone moving up a level or down a level there is reason for skepticism. When you have a guy who was a proven player at the high major level there is no reason not to expect him to be productive.
  6. Aaron Cosby no longer with the Illinois basketball program. What an incredible disappointment. Two years of proven production at a major conference including a really strong sophomore year and he was horrible this year and didn't even make it through the season.
  7. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 16, 2015 -> 12:42 AM) He gets s*** for the 2 Finals losses with Miami, and rightfully so. He deserves criticism for the loss to the Mavericks. Last year he played really well against the Spurs and the Heat lost because they couldn't defend the Spurs at all. There's nothing LeBron could have done to change the result of that series.
  8. Wisconsin is the only really good team in the conference. Illinois was going to need an unreal effort to win that one and they just didn't shoot it well enough and didn't do enough on the defensive glass to get it done. Didn't help that Nunn was horrendous today.
  9. I'd like to see Illinois go big today. Don't play either Tate or Starks and go with a lineup of Rice/Nunn/Hill/Colbert/Egwu. Wisconsin doesn't pressure the ball and it would help us on the defensive end.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) I was just going to say that. We have this discussion every year, just like the bubble is weak. Bubble teams are always mediocre with the expanded tournament. I just think college basketball is a really bad product right now other than the excitement of the NCAA tournament. The basketball being played around the country just isn't entertaining at all. Especially when you compare it to the NBA where the league is terrific right now and a lot of the teams are playing beautiful basketball.
  11. So can anyone think of another player who is as great of a free throw shooter as Jaylon Tate but that is also an absolutely horrendous jump shooter? I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it. It is incredibly rare for guys who are fantastic free throw shooters to not also be good shooters but I can't think of any great free throw shooters who are terrible shooters.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) Yep , Gonzaga is actually my favorite team to watch this year. They at least have scorers at every position. This season is probably the least I have watched in 25 years Even most of the top teams aren't that fun to watch. Kentucky is a fantastic team but I just don't enjoy watching them at all. Virginia plays really good basketball but I find them boring to watch.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) The Big Ten is awful outside of Wisconsin and D. Russell. I blame Calipari for hogging all the talent. I'd say college basketball in general is awful this year outside of a handful of teams.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 11:07 PM) Only fair. Both teams gave a game away at others place. Michigan was never making tourney anyway. Yep. Results really should have been reversed. This was as dominating of an overtime as you will ever see.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Why was Spike taking ball out vs Egwu? Gotta switch that Yeah, I get that he is generally reliable but asking him to make a pass there over Egwu is really tough.
  16. Rice was shooting that. It would have taken huge balls by the refs but he should probably be shooting free throws.
  17. Hill definitely got fouled by Irvin there. If you aren't going to call the charge (and that was a clear flop by Albrecht) then you can't decide to just ignore the obvious foul by Irvin.
  18. If Illinois loses this one Groce deserves a lot of the blame tonight. Some s*** performances out of his control but the switching of all the ball screens on defense in the second half was brutal.
  19. Just an absolutely brutal effort by Illinois so far. Egwu and Tate have been particularly awful.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Those are a little crazy, but the eye pokes are unintentional. If he at 7'1" could actually poke people in the eyes on purpose when they are playing, and be so good at it, none of the three were called a foul at the time they happened, I doubt he would be playing in his 3rd year at Iowa and averaging about 7 a game. He tries to stick a hand right in their face. He should probably stop that. But the criticism he has received is ridiculous. He is Adam Woodbury. He's a 7'1" guy who shoots layups instead of dunks. Maybe, but he sure as hell wasn't making a basketball play when he poked Kaminsky in the eye.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) how long could they have kept all four? I was under the impression that it was Hardens RFA year and they knew that if they signed him that someone else was gonna be squeezed. As long as they wanted (and as long as those guys signed the contracts offered to them by the Thunder). The squeeze was based on not wanting to pay the luxury tax and being too cheap to amnesty Perkins.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) OKC didnt really have much of a choice in the matter, they had to move him or watch him walk. Extremely bitter pill to swallow, but they couldnt pay Durant/Harden/Westbrook all the max. I suppose they could have, and attempted the Heat model, but even the Heat model had Lebron and Wade taking a little bit less. Harden wanted to get paid They could have paid him and he wouldn't have had to take less money since he was their own free agent. They coupe have kept Durant/Harden/Westbrook/Ibaka together but didn't want to pay the luxury tax. Horrible move
