  1. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Trust me when I say that the liberals are taking care of no one but themselves. They may make you think they are, but lies about what conservatives will do to necessary social programs wouldn't be drastically cut by conservatives. The Democratic Party has brain-washed minorities, particularly black America, into thinking that without them, the Republicans would wipe every social program off of the face of the earth. 11% of black America that voted in 2004 has come around and knows that that is not the case and they voted Republican. The Democrats are losing the hispanic vote. Without winning back those minority votes already lost, the Democratic Party may one day outlive it's usefulness under it's current political set-up. Reagan's budget director David Stockman said the following about the Reagan tax cuts: He described them as a 'Trojan Horse' to reduce the top income tax rate paid by the wealthiest families. Working families saw their tax burden continue to rise, while the rich enjoyed tax breaks on capital gains, personal investments, estates, depreciation and profits. Under Reagan's plan, a family earning $30,000 a year would suffer a slight increase in taxes while a family with an annual income of $200,000 would enjoy a tax break of 10%. The whole point of these tax cuts, which have been touted by Republican administration for years, is as Grover Norquist put it "draining its lifeblood" of government. Tax cuts for the ultra rich and corporations, many of which are being promoted by the Bush II administration have been smashmouthed by Republicans as well. Dr. N. Gregory Mankiw, chairman of Dubya's own Council of Economic Advisors called Reagan's supply siders "charlatans and cranks." Irving Kristol, the godfather of the neo-cons, admitted that it is crap economics but good politics. It's a Trojan Horse for getting inside the walls of government to dismantle government. After tax cuts create monumental deficits, government won't have funds to stop the mean and greedy from doing whatever the f*** they want. Let's not forget that the "Death Tax" that Dubya railed about only applied to approx. 2% of Americans. So when its said that some Republicans will wipe social programs out by cutting their funding, look no further than their own admissions, CubKilla.
  2. Was seeing a girl. She told me that she was sleeping with another guy but still really liked me and wanted to go out with me. So, her two best friends thought that was really shady and took me out for a weekend on the town telling me hilarious, embarassing stories about her. They liked her but they thought what she did to me was total and complete s***. She got so pissed at the 3 of us that she's not talking to any of us because somehow I was the bad guy in all of it.
  3. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) so I guess we should just elect know-it-all smart ass bong toting college students like yourself to solve all of the problems... nope, Tom Delay is a much better choice, thank you very much.... Yeah Tom "3 Ethics Violations in 1 Week" Delay is a great choice
  4. Partisan hackery rules! In fact, let us not mince words...the management is terrible! We've had a string of embezzlers, frauds, liars and lunatics making a string of catastrophic decisions. This is plain fact. But who elected them? It was you! You who appointed these people! You who gave them the power to make decisions for you! While I'll admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making the same lethal errors century after century seems to me to be nothing short of deliberate. You have encouraged those malicious incompetents, who have made your working life a shambles. You have accepted without question their senseless orders. All you had to say was "No." You have no spine. You have no pride. You are no longer an asset to the company. -Alan Moore Just because the FBI cooked the first WTC bomb and Reno was a giant police statist moron that had the ATF start the fire at Waco doesn't give a cart blanche to the GOP to do whatever they want. They're all a bunch of softheaded incompetent tits that should have their heads sucked flat by a vacuum for the improvement of the country.
  5. I'm excited to see this on DVD when I rent it.
  6. That is a brilliant idea. Like the Lewis Black routine said: Al Roker once said that we'd get 6-12 inches of snow. We got 36. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he was 2 feet off. Now, if you were a roofer and you built a roof and it was off that bad, you'd still be doing time.
  7. I wonder how much is sex and how much is the girl telling him that it happens to every guy.

  9. There were plenty of stupid gimmicks when Vince was having competition... The Castration of Val Venis "I choppy choppy your pee pee!" Atom Bomb Meat The Gobbledy Gooker I could go on for a while. And you're right about HHH. He's such a ginormous dickweed. And if anybody is interested there is a really good book out now called "The Death of WCW" that goes through why it went from the top of the heap to the infamous ::shudder:: "Viagra on a Pole" match with Shane Douglas and the "Jeff Bagwell's Mom on a Pole" matches on its downward spiral. And could Vince have handled the purchase of WCW/ECW any worsely as an angle? They had the WCW superstars being squashed by WWF midcarders...and I loved that in the Invasion match it boiled down to Kurt Angle vs Stone Cold Steve Austin because truly they were the faces of ECW and WCW
  10. I'm currently reading: "Hey Rube" - Hunter S. Thompson "How to Talk Dirty and Influence People" - Lenny Bruce
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) WDJ, I know you accept some boundaries in all this. Age for one. I will assume mental and physical condition. Would you agree it is wrong to fall in love (and let's assume sex is involved) with a 15 year old when you are 30? Would you agree if someone does not have the mental capacity to agree, that sex with that person is immoral also? Once we have barriers, I can understand, but not agree, with people who feel that gender barriers are natural as well. I've read scripture regarding the issue, read various studies on the "meaning" in Hebrew, Greek, etc. and feel that since it is unclear, and since so many homosexuals I know have fought hard to live a straight life, that it isn't up to me to judge, but to accept. Maybe it's the cowards way out. I respect PAs character to stand up and proclaim his belief without apologizing and I hope he respects my beliefs as well. Further, I think to be polite we are using "love" to mean both the emotion and a sexual act. I don't believe anyone would disagree with loving anyone, it's the physical act that gets some people's tightly whities in a bundle. And you'd think that the literal word of God would be a bit more clear on that and not be so ambiguous [and I'm talking NT, not OT because if we're gonna pick and choose what OT laws to follow, then we gotta get back on board with slaves, levirate marriage etc. etc. etc. -- I think he'd have to have the linguistic ability...being that he's God.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) I see you didn't bother with green type. I agree with you, in a convaluted type way. I don't want to use our power to bail out France's ass again. We've done it twice and they still don't appreciate it. As I said ... let them rot in hell. We'll save our power for true allies. Thank you. But if we are to take the Bush Doctrine of spreading democracy everywhere, then using that *if* France is taken out by an authoritarian state with Bush in office -- at least doctrinally he would be obligated to use the power to save them. And lest we forget, we couldn't have bailed them out twice if they never bailed us out during the Revolutionary War.
  13. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) where were my purple heart band-aids again? They can make them -- the market dictated that many people did not want them, however.
  14. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) *raises hand* call me old fashion, but I don't have much of a "golden shower" fetish Well if there is a market for them, I say let the free market dictate the outcome of the product.
  15. Just an observation not necessarily about anybody on the board but just in general. It seems weird that it is deemed "patriotic" to call France a group of "cheese eating surrender monkeys" or "brie eating snail slurpers" but when somebody does it to the US, then its all of a sudden its wrong, evil, etc. etc. etc. If we can't take it, dare I say we don't dish it out. Just saying -- as a country, if we go about razzing other countries that aren't on board with our policies with insults etc., then its pretty thin skinned of us to not be able to take it in return. And I'm with Cerb -- I'd love for more of these to come out with Kerry and the rest of corporate whores in our government. C'mon who wouldn't like to take a leak on Rick Santorum or Tom Delay and the rest of the idiots.
  16. QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) Yeah, but the question is, Is Vin Diesel really a star? Comparing him to one of the best action stars ever really isn’t fair. It’s just really no comparison. Nice sig, BTW. Key word he is "trying" to do what Arnold did. I doubt its gonna work for him either though. He should just go back to XXX and make a bazillion sequels because that is what he is suited for. Either that or he better start working on an Austrian accent.
  17. HAHAHAHAHA, this thread brought back up. Man I was so wired on caffeine that night -- drank an entire pot of coffee with 3 sugars in every cup along the way

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) I drink so much pop you would all be sick. Around 5-6 cans of Cherry Coke a day. Holy Christ. Do you have rubber padded rooms since you'd be bouncing off the walls with that much sugar/caffeine. Mostly just water, orange juice and alcohol for me but when I do mix its usually with RC. Regular soda drinking though on the times I do drink it is either root beer or Mt. Dew.
  19. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) i think he just needed some money for new steroids. I think he's trying to do what Arnold did. A star does not live on action roles alone but also has to play the loveable family guy as well. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110216/ - Junior (1994) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116705/ - Jingle All the Way (1996) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099938/ - Kindergarden Cop (1990) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096320/ - Twins (1988) These examples show that the badass has to try to have a softside for his action movie bloodlust or the actor will be endlessly typecast into roles. But I personally think it's because Diesel really does need the money
  20. http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,3...2725327,00.html If one of Hunter S. Thompson's last wishes comes true, the body of the late maverick journalist will be cremated this week and his ashes blasted from a cannon across his ranch in Woody Creek. That will be the extent of Thompson's funeral, as outlined in his will, said George Tobia Jr., a Boston-based entertainment lawyer who has represented the author for the past 15 years. Tobia said his client and friend didn't leave a suicide note, only obscure directions he had issued to friends and family in recent days. "This was definitely not spur of the moment," said Tobia, who plans to fly to Colorado today. "He arranged to have things dealt with, and he wanted his family close by, but he didn't want anyone to know - he didn't want anyone to try to stop him." Tobia said he didn't know of anything specific that led to Thompson's suicide but noted the two had discussed it in the past. He did say that the decision had nothing to do with the re- election of George W. Bush or the current trend in national politics, which provided a certain grist for Thompson's mill. Nor did the writer have any significant financial problems. With his land, archives, royalties and other valuable, Tobia said, Thompson's estate is worth millions of dollars. The best explanation, perhaps, is that in recent months Thompson had chronic pain from back surgery and an artificial hip.
  21. Was doing some reading last night/this morning and some people said that he was in constant pain from broken bones and numerous surgeries. According to some he was almost immobile from all of this and he was really pissed off about being in so much pain & being pretty immobile. And supposedly there is going to be a press conference from the family in Aspen today.
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) I'd say hundreds of atttempts on Castro's life by us is a bit of exaggeration. I know the CIA did look at the possibility of secretly dosing him with LSD back in the lat 60s, and they also explored the possibility of dosing him with a chemical to make his facial hair (and thus his machismo?) fall out. In both instances, the plan would have been to deliver the chemicals through 'the ol' tainted Cuban cigar trick.' Wacky, wacky CIA. "ol' tainted Cuban cigar trick..." Good thing Clinton wasn't in the CIA...
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) Um, I'm gonna go with drugs on this one. At first I thought that he could have been high and "accidentally" had it happen but I do think that he probably got bored with life and took himself out. Sad too because he lived through the Nixon bastards, he could have made it through Bush as well. And for anybody that hasn't read it, pick up "The Kingdom of Fear" by HST. If anything the story about the FBI visiting him as a child is worth the read alone.
  24. QUOTE(Yossarian @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) This is knee jerkism and poor thinking. It's also a dangerous slippery slope outlook. I mean if being gay is totally outside the bounds of any type of free will, then what other types of behavior are too? Think about it. I'm older than probably 95% of the posters here and I've not led a sheltered existence. I've known many gays and I can tell you that it is my considered opinion that the journey has many paths and yes free will is a big part of the equation. I'm posting this not to bash anybody, and hope the dialogue if there is any will be civil. We all make choices and we have to live with and take responsibility for. Many genetic and cultural forces impel us to certain actions, but nobody is 100% compelled. As far as the original post goes; some people, things, places, religions, philosophies, etc are open for the most vicious and unfair criticisms and others are immune and sacrosanct. It's a PC world we live in and it gets worse all the time. But to attribute it all to choice as if that's the only factor is absolutely insane since more and more research is finding biologic differences between heterosexual and homosexual brain physiology etc. /waits for Fla to come out with "here comes the science!" It was not saying that it was outside the bounds of speech but rather that it was a ridiculous concept and I was satirizing/lampooning it as such. He's got the freedom to speak but if he says something idiotic then I got the right to lampoon whatever it was. I'd post more but I got back to back appointments with advisors regarding my last year in my minor program today that should take a few hours simply to be told that I am on schedule and am going to graduate on time. :puke
  25. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Deep breaths everyone. First of all, Apu, I have much more respect for you than to read the sweeping generalizations you just made in that last post. c'mon, exactly HOW MANY Catholic parishes were involved in the child abuse scandals? And could it be that some people might just be sick enough to falsely accuse some of those priests? You're 100% right about the guilty parties. It's inexcusable what went on, and I stand with you in calling for earthly punishment for those people (cos they're in for it at a latter date). Point being that a large majority of catholic priests are doing quite well and serving their God faithfully. I honestly think they should be allowed to marry, but that's another story. If every evangelical christian was out posting signs and holding rallies in the streets, I'd be REALLY impressed regardless with how "off" their message might be. Once again, I agree with you, "laying down your life for a friend" should be stamped on every heart of the Christian. I understand where people are coming from with the ten commandments but considering rate of divorce in evangelical churches, I'm not sure we should be focusing on keeping the commandments in court houses as much as we should just focus on simply keeping the commandments. I also agree with you that "God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble." I again, don't think you're describing every christian but a very stereotypical view of a type of christian. finally, I've seen 3 movies (De-lovely, Alexander, and House at the end of the world) all of them had VERY homosexual characters in them all of which didn't seem to have much of an everyday issue with being that way. The point being that there's far more of an influence in the media for us to "accept" that lifestyle as normal and ok. Yet with over 50% of the US population professing some belief in the Christian faith, where is the representation in TV and movies? It's a joke. I'm not sold on the "born gay" mentality, but I'm definitely not sold on a heterosexual male "choosing" to be gay. I think it's defects of development, genetics, and learned/responsive behavior. by the way, I was watching a very interesting expose on the Matthew Shepard incident on TV. It turns out that his killer knew matthew quite well, had gay relations with at least one other male, and attacked another guy later that night. so, hate crime? not so sure. oh yeah, that was on CNN. Personally, I was born with a desire to seek out truth, The Truth. I can't say I knew what it was in my youth, but I knew I was different. I wasn't like everyone else. I found out that I was a child of God while I was in high school, and I've been practicing it, ever since.... (sound familiar????) Correct. Institutionalized religions that refuse to change minutae that has nothing to do with the crux of what is being taught in the church (a la the Catholic Church) out of the sake of "tradition" are really making themselves not relevent. Thousands of priests have been implecated in these crimes -- but the movements and the making a conscious effort to keep them from being prosecuted for years is what irks me. There was a lot of knowledge that this was going on for a 50 year period and it goes pretty far up in the church that they had to be aware of at least the rumblings of this sort of scandal after a while. I agree that the insane Christian right wing has hijacked the religion -- just as fundies have Islam and the Likudnik Zionists have for Judaism. There just seems to be a shortage now of the Archbishop Oscar Romero types (see the movie "Romero" for more info) and more of the partisan hacks that use religion as a political tool for elected office instead of standing behind any tenets of a religion. I think any real religious faith is dealt with in detail in sitcoms etc. because it kind of does a disservice to whatever group is being covered -- just like Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, for instance for gays. It just reinforces plenty of stereotypes about gays. My friend who happens to be gay can't dress for s*** I'm not always sold on hate crime legislation -- because if somebody goes through in attacking/beating the Hell out of somebody, I think it may be a safe assumption to believe that it may have been inspired by hate.
