  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) You are misunderstanding me. I am saying that Khali's opponents never hit him in the legs. Everytime a smaller wrestler tries to take out a bigger wrestler, they work on the legs. No one ever touches Khali's legs, they just hit him in the chest and try to hit him up high, and he responds with the brain chop. It just looks like they have some sort of edict that you arent supposed to hit Khali low. Its probably because his knees would bend the wrong way if you hit him right. I would be glad if Flair turned heel in this situation. I dont think I want to see Evolution come back and call itself DX. I really cant stand edge. I think he is the worst on-mic personality the WWE has. Yeah, Khali shouldn't be in the ring. More along the talent lines than anything else. Edge is not the best on the mic but he's a good main event heel on the show. Off the mic, he's alright in the ring...but ye gods, microphones are not the friends of Rated RKO. Their mic segments always screech to a halt. You know what this main event needs?
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) I've heard that argument before with cops too, though to a lesser extent. Its BS in that case as well. If you can't put aside what the guy next to you does in his spare time and cover each other's asses when the s*** hits the fan, then you are just a little too easily distracted. Maybe they're just covering for something. Obligatory.
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) There must be a rule that wrestlers cannot go below Khali's waist, because they all try and give him the chest chop and he just pops them on top of their heads with his overhand chop. Its probably because of his knee problems, but if the guy cant take the abuse necassary to take him down then he doesnt need to be in the ring with them. I loved seeing Ron Simmons trying to break out of the Masterlock. Damn! Eh, Ric Flair has been "knocked unconcious" backstage. Blech, fake drama. Again, I hope it's to heel Flair. Remember, 7 year rule where this has happened before in the E. I can't remember who they turned heel but they did the same thing. Supposedly the guy had been jumped but nobody saw it and he faked it. Then during the main event, the "injured" superstar heeled. And kyyle, don't diss the Brain Chop. It's one of the 5 moves in Khali's arsenal. I wouldn't want him to lose 20% of his repetoire.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 09:10 PM) Torrie Wilson still looks hot. That's the first time I've seen Khali "in action." He's terrible. They took his Last Man Standing match against Taker off SummerSlam because he is so atrocious in the ring. But he's 7 ft. and 400 lbs. so we get stuck with him. Man, the smark in me wants to see Flair heel on HBK tonight simply due to a lack of main event heels on Raw. Is it bad that I'm still waiting for the Cryme Tyme commentary on MLK Jr. Day?
  5. God...Raw tonight. Who knew? I'll probably watch out of nothing else to do.
  6. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) The rest of the US has these laws about discriminating. LOL. The military said the same thing about women and minorities. Grow up. Being gay isn't contagious. You won't get cooties. They won't convert you while you sleep. Or maybe they will, Tex. Or maybe they will...::Twilight Zone music:: /watches as they scurry away camped out at my window when I look
  7. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 02:12 PM) No. It doesn't inhibit their job, it's a distraction that inhibits other people's ability to do theirs. I dont expect you to understand though. Your smug little "I'm not there but I'm still qualified to comment" reaction is about what I expected. I fail to see how it's more of a distraction than the "I'm gonna f*** anything that moves" mentality of guys in general especially when stationed with women as well -- Especially when the armed forces have a huge problem with rape and sexual harassment (let's not forget Tailhook, Aberdeen and the AF scandals to say the least). I think that the rash of sexual harassment and rape is a bit more of a problem for morale (or maybe not since those are some real "macho" individuals, right?) And I can comment on that because I know a person who had to endure that unfortunate experience in regards to sexual harassment while in the military, so please take your smug holier than thou attitude and look at some simple facts. Sexual harassment from heteros while in the military -- an unfortunate consequence but not really a distraction Openly gay cadets simply serving their country without any mention that they'd attempt romantic relationships -- OMG! TEH ARMAGEDDON! And you may think that my statements above are hyperbolic, especially about hetero sexual harassment. Well, you're going to say that the vast majority of soldiers don't do that. Correctamundo. JUST LIKE THE MAJORITY OF GAY PEOPLE DON'T JUST TRY TO f*** ANYTHING THAT MOVES, ESPECIALLY CO-WORKERS. And the idea that we all have to be someplace before we can comment is absolutely f***ing laughable. Since you've never been a member of the Democratic party, then simply by applying your logic, you shouldn't be able to say a damn thing about Chappaquiddick, Kennedy, Kerry, et al. because you were never there. Talk about smug. Look in a mirror.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) This was never a question of merit. Sure it is. If they have the merit for the job and they were asked to leave because of their sexuality (as if that somehow inhibited their job) then it is everything to do about merit. People who can do the job are asked to leave because of some closet case homophobes that don't want "icky" gays around.
  9. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) I dont care if it's 1945 or 2007. Openly gay people serving was a bad plan then and its still a bad plan now. Openly gay soldiers are a distraction, their presence would undermine discipline and morale, and they themselves would be in danger ( Most soldiers dont exactly like gay people and despite any rules to "leave the gay guy alone" they would still be the victims of verbal and physical abuse ). So, we shouldn't get rid of DADT because some of the soldiers are homophobic closet cases? (research has shown correlation that the people who are most virulently anti-gay are usually covering up for something) Before 1940, the Navy would not allow anybody who masturbated into the organization. Before that, we even segregated the armed forces because many of the soldiers didn't like minorities and didn't want them there. Despite all the rules about not hurting the minorities, they still got it from some soldiers. Times change and so should we. I'd love to see concrete examples of gay soldiers being a distraction, undermining morale (and I'm not talking about the "Ewww...it's icky!" pseudo-outrage of people) and putting themselves in danger. It's the same bulls*** arguments given against integration that were intellectually devoid and failures then and they are the same now. If they can do the job, they should be in there, no matter what race, gender, creed or sexuality. I'd highly doubt they'd be hitting on their fellow soldiers during a firefight. Just because a girl dates other girls or a guy dates other guys doesn't mean that they can't serve. Since 1993, about 10,000 otherwise qualified servicemembers have been forced out, including those in crucial occupations such as code-breakers, intelligence and medical specialists, air traffic controllers and translators. At a time of tight budgets and stretched-thin forces, the Defense Department has spent $364 million to recruit and train replacements for those discharged, says a blue ribbon panel that includes former Defense secretary William Perry. Think about that -- $364 million just because some homophobes want to be assured that Lt. Joe isn't checking out his ass during training. If they're openly hitting on people and being obnoxious -- that's one thing (and that should be dealt with hetero or homosexual). If they serve and work well then that's all that should matter, not what orifice they like to pleasure when they're in the privacy of their own rooms.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jan 14, 2007 -> 09:27 AM) Clone High on MTV was an excellent show, so since it was MTV of course it didn't last.... There's also 5 South, the Super Adventure Team, the aforementioned Wonder Showzen...MTv has a great ability to get good shows on their channel and then cancel them too fast to make more room for another Real World vs Road Rules "reality" show.
  11. It hasn't been officially cancelled yet, but the creators said that a 3rd season is going to be very difficult to have with MTV2 -- so it could be cancelled. That show is "Wonder Showzen". Holy hell, that show is so subversively brilliant.
  12. C'mon guys, I wanna see Bonds get busted as an ass injecting steroid head as well -- but I'm not gonna get all upset that he was a meth-head. The tests for meth and steroids are apples and oranges. And how many other players in the league likely used and/or tested positive for meth over their careers if they would have been tested? Please, save the pseudo-outrage for the moment Bonds really gets the egg on his face and they can prove the HGH/steroids.
  13. I haven't been able to take the following albums out of my CD player recently Brother Ali - Shadows on the Sun Brother Ali - Champion EP Macklemore - The Language of My World Jello Biafra and Mojo Nixon - Prairie Home Invasion And a two disc set of Bob Marley and the Wailers hits. Surprisingly, the kids I teach really like Bob Marley tunes when I play them -- they get time to work in class, so I play some tunes while they work. It's ranged from Coltrane, Davis, Hooker to Marley so far.
  14. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 02:03 PM) agree about Impact. Looking forward to Final Resolution. And for my own sanity, I think I'm going to stop watching WWE unless I hear something amazing happens. With Rosie v Donald and CM Punk's loss to Holly in the same week, I think I'm done with them. Going to the E supershow (SD and WWECW) on Super Bowl Sunday afternoon most likely simply to mark out for Punk and hold up a giant sign with an old roommate "Needs More Colt Cabana!" and "Second City Saints!" Totally going to mark for Londrick, Finlay, King Booker, Miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiister Kennedy (Kennedy!), Punk, RVD, Sabu, Sandman, the other EC Dub originals and a hopeful JBL sighting. But another question. 5 must have shows for ROH outside of Death Before Dishonor IV, Glory By Honor V Night 2 (and I'm getting myself the Chicago Spectacular Night 1 from December when it is out on DVD simply because I was in attendance and I love Kikutaro). I want five must haves for my ROH collection so I can build from there. I really want to avoid the dud shows which is why I'm questioning. Are the War of the Wires any good (I or II)?
  15. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 01:52 PM) Almost all of the Milestone Series is terrific - both Chicago shows were stellar. The best ROH match I've seen has to be Samoa Joe/CM Punk II, incidentally also in Chicago. I hear United is awesome, although I don't have it yet. Which show had BJ Whitmer powerbomb Jimmy Jacobs into the audience off the top rope? I'm kind of interested in seeing that one on DVD. Also, what shows would you rate as a top 5 of all ROH shows?
  16. The best part of that Donald and Rosie segment was seeing Ace Steel in a E ring. So glad I turned off Raw and watched ROH's Glory By Honor V Night 2 -- a must see for any wrestling fan. The KoW vs Aries and Strong was amazing as was Marufuji vs McGuinness and AmDrag vs KENTA. I can't wait to get some more cash so I can pick up some more ROH DVD's. For the ROHbots, what are some high quality shows I should pick up? I'm looking at Death Before Dishonor 4, Glory by Honor 5 Night 2, Final Battle 2005, Final Battle 2006 (when it comes out) and Joe vs Kobashi. Any duds there or shows I'm missing? QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 09:16 AM) A Donald Trump impersonator defeated a Rosie O'Donnell impersonator after a cake to the face. It wasn't even as funny as that might sound. The funniest thing was the "WE WANT WRESTLING" chant going on late in their far-too-lengthy "match". Not to mention the multiple skits they ran backstage including Rosie eating a cake, the Donald getting his hair sprayed, Rosie checking out Maria's ass amongst other things.
  17. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) Jesus. I can see how people don't want to see non-wrestlers on the show but... K-Fed was cutting the best promos on the show, outside for Cena. He goes out there and acts like himself, and people want to see him get his. As you know, that's how it f***ing should be. He was awesome. Too bad they killed it off. He should've been bringing in guys to take out Cena, like Heenan used to do w/Hogan. You certainly are welcome to your opinion, but I have to disagree. Lance is one of the smartest guys in the business. Just because someone wasn't a draw or a huge star doesn't mean their opinion doesn't mean anything. Hell, wrestling is lined with guys who never drew s*** or made it farther than the opening match who know more than the guys on top. As far as Tom Zenk, he used to be on w/Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez all the time, and he was hilarious. Right, Storm's even said he was never trying to be the huge draw but a solid technician in the ring that put on respectable matches. To say that he's bitter without even reading what he wrote is asinine. His commentary was actually pretty dead on and pretty level headed. To say he's bitter is to not know the situation -- as Ian and I are saying. And K-Fed would be entertaining on the E TV. He was actually getting Cena face pops live. It could be a great Heenan like thing.
  18. I hate to say this, but the more I think about it and read about it... It seems K-Fed is really liked by the boys. He hangs out with them in the back, eats with them and is supposedly eager to get advice/criticism from other workers about what he can do to improve his gimmick. Add that into the fact that he played a decent heel on the show for a newb, got Cena to get some damn good face heat live and fans seemed to be giving him heel heat and not "get the Hell off our show" heat...He may be able to become a decent heel if used on occassion. He's no Kaufman by any means of the imagination but he seems to be alright. Trust me, I'm shocked in coming to this realization.
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 05:53 PM) Not ONLY Bob Backlund!!!! Backlund AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND................. DISCO INFERNO!!!!! SMELL THE BUYRATES!!!!! ....oh wait.....that's not a buyrate I'm smelling...... I mark for the Chart Buster. And if you haven't read Lance Storm's critiques of Bischoff's book and Bischoff's response, I highly suggest. Also, thought this would get a laugh...
  20. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...ex.html?cnn=yes They picked up an SUV that they believe was used as the car in the shooting. Maybe its something in the water in Denver. In 2003, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter was shot outside a Denver sports bar, and last April, Nuggets guard Julius Hodge was shot while driving on Interstate 76 in Denver. Both shootings occurred after disturbances at nightclubs and neither case has been solved. Hodge, who played Tuesday night for the first time since he was shot five times April 8, said Williams' killing brought back nightmares of the night he was attacked.
  21. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) A new report: Keith Ellison will use a Koran owned by Thomas Jefferson for his unofficial, ceremonial oath of office. Hmmm, so that's how you spell pwn3d.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 07:19 AM) I dont know if anyone watched ECW last night, but I think that Kevin Vampire guy hurt Balls Mahoney in the match. It ended really abruptly and Balls was making the X sign on his chest after he got nailed with a forearm shiver across the jaw/collarbone. The end of the RVD/Lashley match had them both crying injury too, but I think that was on purpose. The Van Dam / Lashley one was a work because for some reason, the creative team showed sanity and didn't job out RVD to Lashley and they weren't going to take the belt off of Lashley that fast. As for the Mahoney one, he looked legit hurt when he got nailed. Haven't heard anything more about his injury though, so perhaps (and hopefully) he'll work through it. Viva el Chair Swinging Freak!
  23. QUOTE(NUKE @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) What a cogent, well thought out response that really made me change my opinion. First it is bleeding hearts at the Red Cross/Crescent, then the ACLU...I'm just waiting for those "bleeding heart, terrorist loving Communist liberals" at the FBI to get lambasted here in saying they too saw abuses at Gitmo.
  24. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/americas/01/...namo/index.html Results of the 26 "positive responses" and several more "not purely negative responses" reported by FBI personnel in the internal inquiry were made available Tuesday on the Web site at www.FBI.gov 26+ out of less than 500 is pretty intresting...Why does the FBI hate America so much?
  25. QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) ECW has a chance tonight to get on the right path. RVD vs. Lashley for the ECW title. RVD could win the title and that would be a good thing but obviously, I doubt that will happen. Someway, somehow, Lashley can go heel. It seems ECW was always better back in the day when they had a heel champion. I was never a Franchise fan but when he or Justin Credible had runs, it was entertaining. As much as the E is not high on RVD now, get it? High? I kill me!, it would be best to put the title back on him. Hey now, RVD had his chance. His opportunity went up in smoke. Zing! RVD is gonna do the j.o.b. to Hoss #2337237. Face champs all around!
