  1. Even if you don't like K-Dawg, you gotta feel for the man. He went to have his hip surgery and the docs found his kidneys to be so bad, they wouldn't risk the surgery. He's on dialysis now and may very well need a kidney transplant.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 25, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) Why the hell would the D-backs be interested? Nostalgia tour, the NL being much easier to pitch in and quite realistically the D-Bax GM had waaaaay too much egg nog these past few days.

  4. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Dec 25, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) And 95% of this board would've been demanding that Kenny be fired for failing to re-sign him and, for all intents and purposes, giving away Brandon for a 3-month rental. Or are you saying we could've re-signed him for, hmmm, let me take a shot in the dark here -- 8-years and $136 million? As far as Young goes...Kenny has made it quite clear that he will not trade any pitching from the roster unless he gets pitching in return. We have a winnar! If BMac went for Soriano, we'd have no shot at resigning him in this crazy ass offseason and KW would have had one testicle sent to the Sun Times and the other to the Trib by rabid Sox fans before they strung him up for trading the sudden inside track pitcher for the CYA and that is going to singlehandedly change a division for a three month rental. And correct me again since we're on the same page, Jordan -- the offense didn't seem to be the problem. It was the pitching that kept wetting the bed. We had an unproven pitcher that had a handful of good games and was never in the rotation. Nobody knew or knows if he'll be able to handle that load and pressure. We got what we could for him, especially if he proceeds to wet the bed. And let's keep overvaluing our own players please. I personally thought we should have gotten Pujols, Rolen and Edmonds for him straight up or perhaps with a throw in prospect.
  5. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) but AJP isn't a cock-sucking douche bag? we love you LCR merry Christmas! Zing! I'm a douchebag but I don't suck cocks. Merry Christmahannakwanzaakah to all and to all a good night!
  6. Got an AJP jersey. I figure that it kinda fits with my personality, haha.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) I don't mean to be rude, especially with the holiday season upon us, but are you serious with your posts?? Reading that post from him. I was just thoroughly reminded of the scenes from the film Major League where they have the fans talking about how the team is going to suck despite making the playoffs etc.
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) I want a date. Maybe he'll exchange numbers with you and all will be right in the world again.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) I wouldn't push it. Looks like he has some sort of Ultimate Fighter in his avatar, looks tough..... Is this calling him out again though? Am I sending the wrong signals here? And just for him:
  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) And an army? Well of course they had an army. Who do you think the Italians conquered so fast during WW II?
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:49 AM) I swear, it sounds like he really wants a date...and that is kinda creepy. Perhaps it is another form of "insider information" that we're getting. I kid because I care ™. And I do believe with this humor, this thread has been sufficiently hijacked. /crosses fingers.
  12. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Sorry if I don't blindly trust the "inside information" from people posting on an internet forum. From time to time, people like to puff out their chests and pretend that their insiders when they're not. This behavior isn't exclusive to internet forums. And the next time you call me out like this, we'll exchange phone numbers and arrange a meeting...... Hahaha, talk about puffing one's chest out. Irony thy name is MSHAWKS. And unfortunately I can't give you my number and arrange a meeting because I'm not interested in guys. Sorry.
  13. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Yes...I'm sure that's exactly how you run a Multi-Million dollar sports franchise. Wasn't Garcia his son-in-law? But then when the guy is having thoughts like that, perhaps facts aren't the first thing to come to mind.
  14. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) That's why I don't kidnap strippers.... Geez, like I needed that image. ::shudders::
  15. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) Or, perhaps you are giving some of the people here who claim to have "inside knowledge" too much credit. You don't know what you're talking about and just because you don't have access to it does not mean it can't be true. So please, take a few moments and realize that just because it isn't being sauntered about in front of your face that it just might still be true. And oh yes, is everybody else off the ledge from last night with the projections that we're going to be worse than the Royals with the loss of McCarthy? Cuz damn, that got really old and really lame really, really fast. Soxtalk.com, fitting their own familiar mediocre players for HOF busts since 2004.
  16. 'Cide is the new ROH World Champ. Danielson got out of a Cop Killa (foot on rope) and eventually got beat by the Lariato! (sorry, too much puro today) at about the 25:00 mark. Danielson tried to get DQ'ed twice and the ref refused.
  17. Kings of Wrestling are officially broken up in ROH too. Hopefully Gabe doesn't pull a Zandig and make Claudio's last moment being punked by Hero, Sweeney and also Joe. Joe came out and apologized for not being able to go. Got on the mic and challenged anybody from NOAH and actually called Misawa an old man! And an early Christmas gift to all the ST wrestling fans...Bryan Danielson vs KENTA The more I see of ROH, I get more and more entertained. I think after I get some $$ saved up again, I'm gonna be getting my meathooks on some of their DVDs (I mean, outside of the one where I went to the show)
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Well my only question is who now is our 5th starter. If this is March and we're asking the same question, I'll be right with you all rabbling. However, it's the evening of 12/23 so we've got a while. I'm fairly certain that something is in the works with this much time left.
  19. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) 2004 sucked... and 2007 is going to be much the same. No 5th starter. Man, it's going to be ugly. Man with that crystal ball seeing into the future, can you tell me the address of where I should look for my new apartment?
  20. Credit: Wrestling Observer. Amy Zidian, who briefly played Jimmy Wang Yang's girlfriend, rubbed a lot of people the wrong way backstage. First she made some disparaging comments to Layla El, asking her if she was upset about her getting a push while Layla, who won the Diva Search that Zidian was eliminated from, was 'collecting dust'. She also made fun of Kristal Marshall's hair extentions, upsetting her. The worst offence was when she sarcastically asked Vickie Guerrero why she was a Diva, insinuating that she was overweight and not good-looking. Vickie responded by saying that since she wasn't pretty enough she had better get out of 'your' locker room. Zidian genuinely didn't know who Vickie was or why she was involved with Smackdown, yet by upsetting her the entire locker room more or less turned on her. She was about to get fired until Laurinaitis stood up for her and saved her job. However, when Stephanie McMahon gave Zidian some pointers for an interview segment they were making, Zidian responded with a bad attitude, asking who she was to give her advice. Stephanie told her who she was and that her family owned WWE and Zidian rolled her eyes, not believing it. Laurinaitis, who brought Zidian to TV and wanted to use her even when other creative members didn't, couldn't possibly save her after that one. -- What a total b****. Congrats on the SD team turning on Zidian though for doing what she did to Vickie. And should Johnny Ace really be a talent relations person anymore after these multiple steamers of models with no wrestling experience being total airheads when it comes to the biz? Jesus H. Christ.
  21. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Why do you think this? I'm not being critical of your comment at all; I'm just curious as to how you draw this conclusion. All I know about Haeger is his minor league stats and what I saw of him in the majors (which was obviously limited). Is it just his minor league success that leads you to this conclusion? I want to believe he will be great, but a lot of players have a good AAA season and never do more. I'm just curious if you have more info. Hey if some people here can think that McCarthy in TX makes him the auto frontrunner for the CYA then he can have his dream about Haeger. I think that Haeger could be as productive as a McCarthy if given the opportunity simply because I don't expect a whole ton out of the 5th spot. However, you do have a quality point about only having 4 (5 if we assume that one of these AAA starters actually busts out) starters and possible DL stints causing havoc. However, I still really feel that the rest of the offseason will be addressed on these missing pieces because of KW's track record these past few seasons of addressing the issues that the team has had.
  22. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) I think it is pretty hard to defend KW so far this offseason. He has traded away major league talent for prospects when we are a potentially WS contending team. He has made the 2007 team worse so that the future can be brighter. (I know I am repeating this a lot, but it seems like some people simply refuse to believe this reality). My goal isn't to defend KW because he has and does make some boneheaded moves. I think that some of these young arms get packaged though and something happens with a multiplayer trade for a LF, CF or another SP. But much rather, I'm into calling out the posters here who claim undying love for a player yet s*** all over them when they are struggling in a game or during a season (see Garland, Crede, Count, et al.) and call for their trade/head/balls on a silver platter without seeing the blatant hypocricy in doing so. The knee-jerkism here also does not have the greatest track record (see Olivo's HOF bust for instance) so I always take it with more than a grain (more like a mine) of salt. 2007 is going to be interesting but there are still months before pitchers and catchers report so I'm not going to get too hot about it just yet.
  23. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) I think he would likely have been as good as Garcia was in 2006. I don't think any of the pool of pitchers who are now going to compete for the 5th starter spot can come close to that in 2007. Kenny Williams: working hard to give you another championship in 2010 I think you could be right about him being the equivalent to Garcia v. 2006 but I think that he'd receive the same amount of vitriol (from many of these same complaining posters, coincidentally) for not turning "it" on immediately as was seen on this board over the past years with Garland, Garcia, Crede, Contreras, etc. when they were having difficulties/struggles. KW -- damned if you do and damned if you don't with a lot of these people.
  24. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) No, the Sox aren't writing off the 2007 season, but they have made moves which have the net impact of making the 2007 team worse than the 2006 team talent-wise. Clearly these moves are good for the future (if a significant number of these prospects pan out), but they have been done to the very clear detriment of the 2007 team. But if we don't go after some farm prospects from time to time (especially with KW's hard on for trading prospects in almost every deal the past few seasons), wouldn't it mean that eventually we'd have to really restock with some trade bait studs or we'd be scrambling for farm talent to trade? Eventually you have to restock a little bit too. If more prospects were not had and KW kept up his habit of trading them for proven talent, then it would eventually lead to a bigger detriment to a current year's team when he would be forced to trade on-the-field talent for other talent due to a lack of farm league talent being available. I don't think it wrote off 2007 yet. It's still December, folks. There's time for things to still be done so let's not get our panties in a bunch just yet. (Not talking to you, SH1980 there with the last comment -- just other people and didn't feel like turning it into another post)
  25. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) I was going off his extreme post that McCarthy would be nothing and that everything is okay with the Sox, when it is not. And McCarthy wasn't going to be the magical band-aid that fixed it all, so let's not pretend that it would be.
