Sox fire Matt Lisle/Matt Lisle quits (?)
If they fired him because he couldn't work with others and had poor communications skills that led to clashes, I don't think that's evidence of them being backwards. A roving hitting instructor who has never been employed by a major league team and who no one really knows much about is (maybe) let go and the reaction of the posters here (who have no idea about his effectiveness or any details) is to imply Jerry Reinsdorf needs to die and to assume the guy (who previously never had a MLB job) was fired because he was too smart? Too good?

Sox fire Matt Lisle/Matt Lisle quits (?)
So in your scenario - they hire a guy with an analytical background specifically because he is an analytical background. He is a model employee. He's doing everything they ask of him. He's getting results. He gets along with players. He gets along with other coaches and staff. Then one day Jerry/Kenny/Hahn wakes up and decides they want to fire him because he still possesses the quality that was the main reason they hired him? I'd put my money on him being fired (if he got fired) for the reason most people get fired. They either underperform, they pissed someone off, they always showed up late, they showed up drunk, they slept with someone's wife, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Sox fire Matt Lisle/Matt Lisle quits (?)
The idea that the Sox hired him because of his analytical background and then changed their minds because they realized he was too progressive for their caveman ways doesn’t make any sense. There’s a million reasons why he might have been fired/quit.

Lol @ the idea of you being happy about something positive.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
I don’t think I heard it from SoxTalk.... Aside from being Cuban, they are polar opposites. I could see it.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
Yeah... I tried to find it but I couldn’t.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
I don’t know where I heard this but I always thought Abreu hated Puig. I doubt they sign him if that’s true.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Why would the stat even take positions into account if it weren't meant to compare players of different positions? If you are only comparing 2Bs to 2Bs, there wouldn't be a need to adjust based on positional difficulty.

Lol.... this is a total feel good fluff piece and people are up in arms.

WSI
FarWestChicago banned me for some argument I had with him around 2005/2006. I wish I could remember why but I do know that it was something very stupid. Somehow I was able to message Daver (?) and he reinstated me. I stopped reading the boards about a year ago. It dwindled to like 10 people repeating themselves over and over.

FS: Mid-Season Top 30 - Just Missed
I read "Mieses bats and throws left-handed and has the look of a prototypical right fielder."and thought, it said "Misses bats and throws left-handed and has the look of a prototypical right fielder" and my reaction was "Oh, a two way player!"

Pitchers Batting Is Stupid 8/4 Sox @ Phillies Gamethread
Clicked on the last few pages of this thread and i thought I must have an old game thread open. I’m confused why it’s so negative. They scored 10 runs and Lopez looked decent.

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
The Sosa/Bell trade happened when Rick Hahn was using a fake ID in Ann Arbor. Sosa was like 125 pounds. He played essentially his entire career, retired, became eligible for the HOF in that time period. Half the current players on the 25 man roster weren't even born. But yeah, you are correct. The Cubs and Sox have technically made trades with each other in the past. You've persuaded me. I think the Sox will sign Cole to the largest contract in the history of the MLB because he did it 20+ years ago with Albert Belle. No one can technically say Sox have never spent a ton of $ before. Its not unprecedented.

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
Explain to me how It doesn’t reinforce his point? Ron Schueler was GM for like a year when he made that trade. 200 times a day, people bring up the fact that the 2008 playoffs was so long ago... but something that happened in 1991 and then again in 1999 is proof that something happens frequently?
-
Hahn expects aggressive offseason
Even if George Bell was good, that was during the damn George HW Bush administration. What in the world are people trying to argue? That a trade 30 years ago shows that the cubs and Sox regularly make trades? Has everyone lost their minds?
-
Hahn expects aggressive offseason
George Bell sucked but that’s neither here nor there....Before the Q trade, the last trade of consequence between the teams was Garland for Karchner. I can’t believe so many people think the rebuild was some sort of scheme to lower payroll and they will never sign anyone ever again.... they outsmarted themselves and got too cute with Machado and lost out on him. Get over it. Sox fans can be such a group of whiners.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
I edited my post after I reread it... I meant the Grandal 25%/75% stuff. Where is that coming from?

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Who is "we" Edit: I'm talking about the 75%/25% Grandal thing.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
And if we still had Narvaez and/or Smith, we wouldn't have signed Mccann.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
I don't know... just because they've been bad the last decade and spent the last couple years losing on purpose doesn't mean its worthwhile to constantly b**** and moan about Kevan Smith and Omar Narvaez and the nitpicky garbage a certain outlet spews out for clicks and podcast listens.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Many of the Sox bloggers are always pissed about something.

If you don't hold on to guys once in a while to get what you want, I don't think you end up with Moncada/Kopech/Basabe for Sale and Eloy/Cease for Q and Reylo/Giolito/Dunning for Eaton and Rutherford for Kahnle/Robertson/Frazier etc. etc.

Sox Trade Nate Jones/INTL Slot to TEX for 2 Minor Leaguers
Ok... so I guess enjoy keeping the circle jerk going where you get outraged over things you have no actual knowledge of.

Sox Trade Nate Jones/INTL Slot to TEX for 2 Minor Leaguers
Can't believe this topic has 5 pages. Here's a scenario.... Paddy says "I can sign X amount of 16 year olds for the last million but I don't really like any of them." They go to Hostetler and say "is there anyone you like from these 3 teams that want pool money" and he gives them a list of guys the organization like better. I hope the team starts winning soon. I can't take the constant agonizing from fans online about worthless minutiae especially when the fans aren't privy to the actual deliberations and thought process.
