Machado signs with Padres 10/300
These scenarios where Manny is accepting short term deals all of a sudden don't make sense. Why not take the best longer deal with an opt out?

Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I'd like to see Machado and then maybe a trade for Sonny Gray and a one year deal for a RF (Markakis/Avi/etc.).

Sox could chase Moustakas If MM goes elsewhere
Sox do have a greek heritage night, gyros is greek, and I will buy a Moustakas jersey if they sign him. We need Markakis too.

Sox Sign Jon Jay; 1 year/$4 mil, Charlie Tilson DFA'd
Jon Jay's career OBP is over 350.

Is anyone else embarrassed and somewhat worried about the lengths White Sox going to get Machado?
No

Sox steamer projections for pitching
These projections are silly and tell us nothing. If anyone thinks no one in the rotation will have an ERA under 4.68, they just get off on being negative.

Sox could still bring back Avi
Wouldn't mind it at all if we get Machado. Who else will play RF? I'm fine with Palka being a LH power bat off the bench.

Update: Machado met with Sox
What evidence or reporting have you seen that indicates the White Sox will not offer him as much as the other two teams?

Update: Machado met with Sox
There's more value to Ricky than just overcoming language barriers. I imagine he's able to connect with someone like Machado and the wife on a level Kapler or Boone can't.

Update: Machado met with Sox
I think Renteria is probably a much better asset in the Machado sweepstakes than Gabe Kapler or Aaron Boone.

Update: Machado met with Sox
At this point, I think NYY would probably be best to play Andujar at 1b when Didi returns if they got Machado.

Sox trade for Yonder Alonso; Alex Call to CLE
If they sign Machado, do they sign someone like Brantley to play RF?

White Sox looking at Grandal
If a friend asks a girl out and she likes him but instead decides to date a Kennedy, are you mad at him?
-
White Sox looking at Grandal
Your argument is essentially "One team decided they wanted a better defensive backup so they traded their part time catcher, therefore, it is impossible for part time catchers to exist at all (even though other teams have had part time catchers recently)"
-
White Sox looking at Grandal
Wilson Contreras split time at LF and C when they won the World Series. Why couldn't you "prepare as a backup catcher" and when game starts, go play 1b? Its not like a NFL quarterback.
-
White Sox looking at Grandal
I don't follow. Catchers don't prepare to hit? Cubs have done this as recently as two years ago.

Update per Heyman: White Sox one of 3 teams meeting Machado
Is this a thing? Why would they want to do that?
-
Update per Heyman: White Sox one of 3 teams meeting Machado
The simple answer is because Gardner cost them like 8 million vs. the 30+ million Harper will want and they'd rather spend to improve in areas other than OF. If they wanted to be in on Harper, why wouldn't they let Gardner go and sign him or another corner guy if they miss out on Harper? That'd make more sense to me.

Braves sign Donaldson to 1 yr 23M deal pending physical
That assumes the 2020/second wave guys are good instantly.
