the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Highly doubt it.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
Could he have meant done as in 'off the table?' Nevermind. He meant the deal was completed.

Hector wrong. Again. - Cruz back with Min
You're really going to say no to Cruz, but yes to La Stella? Ridiculous

Can anyone share the original Cruz/Sox tweet from earlier this week?

Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Yes. If the Sox believe that Burnes would step in and continue to be a Cy Young contending pitcher for the next 4 years, then you make that deal. There is risk involved, as there is with any trade. But, as mentioned above, the lack of innings from Burnes is a risk-factor that needs to be considered. I honestly see value in both paths: Path 1: trade top prospects for a young, cost-controlled pitcher who you feel will compete for Cy Youngs. Then sign a vet DH. This is an aggressive move, that if it pays off, wins you a World Series Path 2: Sign a Quintana type to cover desperately needed innings, keep your prospects, re-evaluate at the deadline what holes there are to fill. This path still leaves you as the co-favorite to win the AL and leaves the opportunity for aggressiveness at the deadline. This roster is well enough constructed that there are multiple paths to a championship club right now.

2021 Plan for Kopech and Crochet
You can argue the long term plan all you want, which is fair. But I will say this... With a Hendriks addition and Crochet in the pen all year, our bullpen will be scary good in 2021.

Badler: Sox expected to sign Yoelki Cespedes
I got my years mixed up. Meant 2022 or 2023.

Badler: Sox expected to sign Yoelki Cespedes
2022 or 2023 would be my guess. He's 23 years old. Sox signed Eaton to a 1 year deal with a team option for 2022. I imagine Cespedes takes over before the end of that contract.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
You don't care about the DUI. You dislike Tony because he had a different anthem opinion than you 4 years ago and because you think he's too old for the job. Did you also email all of Michael Phelps' sponsors when he got a DUI? Anyway, I'll end my contribution to derailing this thread and stop posting about Tony. Feel free to get the last word in, hero.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
No, I'm much too spineless to email sponsors about an employee of a baseball team who broke the law. I could never be that brave. I wish though.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
So it went nowhere. You're still a hero in my book. Brave.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
I'm curious how your heroic campaign to email the Sox sponsors about TLR went? LOL

2021 Plan for Kopech and Crochet
Listened to Katz on the Garfien podcast. Based on what he said and how he said it, I think Kopech is a major part of the big league plans in 2021 but he said the main thing is making sure they don't burn him out. I think they will do everything they can to try to make sure his arm is still feeling good come playoff time, because they expect him to be a factor in the playoff rotation. However, if he is showing signs of fatigue they will prioritize his future rather than forcing him to pitch through it just to try to win in 2021. He also raved about Crochet and mentioned he is a part of the big league team in 2021 but didn't give too many details. I'd expect him to start in Birmingham as a starter and come up late in the season as a bullpen piece.

So let's talk about Quintana shall we
The upside play is with Kopech and Cease. Give me a dependable starting pitcher in the FA market.

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
I like this plan except I just don't see the appeal of Richards over Q. Their career numbers are very similar (Q is arguably slightly better), Q is younger, and Q is WAY more durable.
