A Realistic Offseason
If it were last year Keuchel VS this year Odorizzi (so when both went to FA with qO attached) it's a no brained Kuechel. And the poor dude couldn't sign.

Sox issue qualifying offer to Abreu
I hope he is just wrong about the 3 years thing........

A Realistic Offseason
I think 4 for 60 is about his MAX if he went into FA.

A Realistic Offseason
Man that's still a pretty strong SP crop next year. Albeit all mid-rotation guys.

A Realistic Offseason
I just wanted a LH backup catcher and he fit. But that's interchangeable

Sox issue qualifying offer to Abreu
This is probably about right. 2 for 25-30 is about all i'd go.

A Realistic Offseason
So we all are making offseasons of a top pitcher and top hitter. Which would be ideal. But would people HATE a SP heavy offseason? I mean, would you really hate something like this: Wheeler - 5 years 115 million Ryu - 4 years 70 million Delin Betances - 3 years 20 million Encanacion - 1 year 12 million Kole Calhoun - 1 year 7 million Matt Wieters - 1 year 5 million Abrue accepts QO All hitters are 1 year deals. Encarnacion is still a fantastic hitter but otherwise we are going into the season hoping Moncada, Eloy, Anderson, Robert, Madrigal and Abreu all produce at the same level or better essentially, which is risky. We really upgraded the pitching a ton. This is an offseason I could still get behind despite not getting Grandal or Castellanos or a different bigger name.

A Realistic Offseason
Teams still have time to protect players

Rick Hahn's Resume as GM
I actually love it... Let's go.. I think they're all pissed and embarrassed about what happened last year.
-
Zack Wheeler Thread
I am pretty comfortable at 5 years 110 million for Wheeler as we sit today.

A Realistic Offseason
I wouldn't hate it at all if he's our 3rd or 4th signing.. White Sox have always loved Puig

A Realistic Offseason
I personally wouldn't make the trade due to his higher potential but I don't doubt the Sox would since we need a LH RF, and they've had interest in Mazara in the past. Does Lopez have much more value though? 4.63 FIP and 5.04 FIP his two years with us. I guess I'm not thinking he has a ton of value.

A Realistic Offseason
Abreu accepts QO - 1 yr 18 million. Wheeler - 5 years 110 million Grandal - 3 years 58 million Encanacion - 1 year 12 million Hill - 1 year 8 million (incentives to 12 mil) Betances - 2 years 16 million TRADE: Reynaldo Lopez for Nomar Mazara Sign another RP for 5 million I think this is realistic and I'd actually like it, in its totality. I think the most controversial will be the trade but I think that's about all you'd get for Lopez. It would be a change of scenery trade for both.

Predict the Market: FA Contracts
While I agree he has some good potential... 4.63 FIP and 5.04 FIP do in fact grow on trees. I would be surprised if he has much value. Certainly not enough value to trade him. I would imagine we would get pennies. I think a Lopez for Mazara trade is realistic and about what his value would be. I would NOT make that trade due to his potential.

Predict the Market: FA Contracts
I really don't know how much value Lopez even has..
-
A Realistic Offseason
That would push our payroll near 200 million wouldnt it?
-
A Realistic Offseason
I don't hate this idea.... He also could play 2B until Madrigal comes up. This was his primary position.
-
Rangers might trade lefthanded hitter/outfielder
I meant it as, they can choose one player if they wanted.. Not one player for every position.
-
A Realistic Offseason
What could we expect to get for say, Steiver, Rutherford and Laz Rivera? (using your list)
-
Rangers might trade lefthanded hitter/outfielder
Yes, they do have money to get whoever they want.... HOWEVER, all the OF in free agency are trash/not good pickups.. So I guess your statement is correct about having all the money, but sadly there is no OF to spend it on wisely.
-
Rangers might trade lefthanded hitter/outfielder
Calhoun would be a great get from the Rangers. They have multiple players we could use.

Potential Deals with Boston
Then I do not think PRice's contract kills you.
-
Potential Deals with Boston
I agree... If the Sox never expect or want to go above 130 million.. And if that's the case, it doesn't matter what they do, they've failed as an organization.. One terrible contract shouldn't kill you, assuming they're still productive.. which Price is.
