7/16/16 Sox @ Angels Shields vs Shoemaker

Featured Replies

I know not many people like starting a gameday thread when Shields pitches so I'll do it.

Shields vs Shoemaker

Hopefully Shields keeps improving as he has pitched well above average in his last few starts. The offense was s*** again last night but should rebound nicely with a new look to the batting order bc Justin Morneau will be starting at DH. IMO Morneau should bat behind Frazier, but since RV is calling the shots I could see him batting behind Lawrie. I'm really excited for this game and too see how the offense looks with Morneau in it.

Player of the game: Frazier (I feel a 2 run HR will happen)

Prediction: Sox win 6-4

Morneau will go yard tonight.

Avi has two homers off Shoemaker. Lawrie is 6-15 against him.

7-3 Angels.

Watch RV play Avi in right and Eaton in center just bc Avi has hit well against Shoemaker.

With Morneau now, I wonder if they'll push Anderson down to 9, and go Melky at 2?

Eaton, Cabrera, Abreu, Morneau, Frazier, Lawrie, Garcia/Shuck, Catcher, Anderson

I think that lineup is much worse than

Anderson

Eaton

Abreu

Cabrera

Frazier

Morneau

Lawrie

Catcher

Shuck

Yeah, we shouldn't throw Morneau in the cleanup spot right away.

I don't think Morneau is a clean up hitter on this team

7/16 @whitesox lineup at LAA

Anderson SS

Eaton RF

Abreu 1B

Cabrera LF

Frazier 3B

Morneau DH

Lawrie 2B

Navarro C

Shuck CF

Shields P

Abreu should be batting fifth or sixth until he starts hitting like a three or four again.

My bad, I just copied the one from yesterday. I don't pay attention to that much since I'm not on that time zone.

Abreu has a .312/.357/.493 slash line since June 1. How is that not a 3 hitter?

Still no Saladino.

No power at all, is my guess. Anderson has probably been close to if not better than Abreu in the power numbers since he was called up

You'll see him even less now with Morneau on the team. If he couldn't get AB's with Avi as the primary DH he won't be getting any more now. I do think it's a good idea to get him in at 3rd base to DH Abreu against lefties with Frazier moving to 1st. Also to rest Lawrie and Anderson once a week. 2-3 times a week in the lineup would be good use of him.

No way I'd bat him last since he's probably one of our best hitters already.

The speed at the bottom of the lineup does nothing for me since the Sox are a poor offensive team. Get the best hitters the most AB's and the worst hitters the least. Our catchers should be hitting 9th.

Hello everyone. The Morneau era is here

From one lefty Frenchie DH (LaRoche) to another. Let's hope Morneau doesn't surrender as meekly as the other guy did.

Anderson has absolutely no clue what is/isn't a strike. Hope he makes some adjustments in the 2nd half as the league will adjust to him.

That swing by Abreu was the one I have been waiting for all year. Beautiful swing turning on a 94 mph fastball

Yep very smooth and ball jumped off his bat

heck of a start

and no, jb doesn't normally make that play

Well this is off to a great start. Shuck is just awful on defense.
