I don't know how we're supposed to know what's going on behind the scenes one way or the other. One thing we know is Rick Hahn doesn't have autonomy when it comes to building this roster. Take Kenny out of the equation, then you can blame Hahn all day long.

Shields is simply horrible. Definitely should cost Hahn his job. Sadly I think Danks is better than Shields.

I would agree that Shields does not play the game of baseball very well, and we're all disappointed

 

However, the A's players are doing a lot of "hi fivin" and rejoicing, so I guess it's all a matter of perspective
