Have him go around 100 pitches a game and not put unnecessary stress on the biggest asset in your franchise

He was cruising virtually the entire game. Had he been struggling, it'd be different, but I have no problem with his pitch count today.

You fry his elbow early in his career and you simultaneously have destroyed our chances of a quicker rebuild or trying to contend for the next 1-2 seasons. All to give him a bigger workload in meaningless games.

Ever since Avila stopped taking at least 2 strikes and became willing to hit it the other way he has been very good offensively.

Taking good pitches to hit is not good plate discipline. He is a huge swing ad miss guy. Giving himself one pitch to hit did not work.

Complete lack of depth in the minors killed the team this year. A few injuries to mediocre big league players and the replacements made those guys seem like superstars
