December 3, 20169 yr The #Dodgers have reached an agreement on a 3-year deal with Rich Hill that's worth more than $40 million, per @pgammo https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/805183898883883008
December 3, 20169 yr So they have: Kershaw Ryu Kazmir Maeda Hill Urias De Leon McCarthy And others. Crazy. Obviously a lot of injury question marks there but still a lot of options.
December 3, 20169 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 05:10 PM) Does this take LA out of the Sale talks? Probably. More than likely
December 4, 20169 yr SOURCE: The soon to be Obama owned White Sox are down to one team for Chris Sale's services.
December 4, 20169 yr Yeah mods got trolled well with the Obama thread. Edited December 4, 20169 yr by soxforlife05
December 4, 20169 yr What do the Dodgers think of Urius and De Leon to sign a 35 year who has a list of injuries to this kind of deal? Do you think it opens up the possibility of both De Leon and Urias being in the same package? You are not getting Chris Sale for depth. You are getting him for being another ace behind Kershaw. Does this mean those Dodger payroll concerns have been vastly dramatized?
December 4, 20169 yr I don't think this is official. Gammons tweeted that a GM thinks Hill has a deal with the Dodgers not that he for sure had one.

Does this mean those Dodger payroll concerns have been vastly dramatized? Simply put, the Dodgers are not trading for Sale. The Dodgers have been building their farm for some time and have been consistently saying they aren't giving up certain prized prospects. I never really put much stock in the Dodgers interest knowing the Sox would ask for the moon which the Dodgers aren't doing. The Dodgers are counting on their youth to take over for the aging, costly veterans as their contracts expire over the next few years. That will leave the Dodgers a ton of money to lock up their youth for the long term. Looking at the money they have coming off the books over the next few years and the young talent they have, the Dodgers are in a very good position and by all means do not need Chris Sale. Especially at the cost it would take to acquire him. Now Boston on the other hand, is desperate for pitching and makes much more sense. Same for Houston. Imho, those are the most likely destinations.
December 4, 20169 yr Good luck next season if they don't trade Sale while essentially sitting out the entire offseason. They won't be able to give away tickets to watch Garcia get another 600 at-bats at DH.

December 4, 20169 yr QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) Does this take LA out of the Sale talks? Probably. I would think. But assuming we do end up moving Sale, it could be a blessing in disguise. LA's best prospects are pitchers, and Friedman is there -- the stingiest of the stingy when it comes to prospects, and who seems to never "lose" a trade of this type.

To be fair, there haven't been many trades involving a guy with Sales value. That said, can't see a deal withour Urias, and dount Friedman is willing to deal him.
December 4, 20169 yr This would put the LAD likely out of the sale talk (this doesn't mean they would absolutely not go for Sale.. it just wouldn't make as much sense). HOU signing Beltran isn't ideal either... (but it's not devastating). Ah well! Let's go Winter meetings!
December 5, 20169 yr Author The #Dodgers make it official and sign Rich Hill to a three-year, $48 million contract. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/805835813162467328
December 5, 20169 yr According to Rosenthal, the Dodgers are only expecting 120 innings a season from Hill. I guess that is being realistic. He has made 20 starts once in his career. 2007. A very unique career. Congrats to him for sticking with it and getting paid. Edited December 5, 20169 yr by Dick Allen
December 5, 20169 yr Listening to Rich Hill on MLBN now. What a great guy - happy for him. Didn't realize he lost an infant son a few years back.
December 5, 20169 yr Rich Hill is going to be making 10 million more dollars over the next three years, than Chris Sale will.
