I hope that's not his normal delivery.

I've seen him do that for a couple years now in drills... someone more informed will have more insight but I suspect it's a drill to build drive towards the plate. Never seen it that pronounced thou. Crazy.

I wonder what kind of pitchers can do that....

I dont think that'll work in games.

Yes, this is idiotic. Why endanger yourself?

No its not idiotic. Its a run and gun and lots of pitchers do this as part of velocity work. I guess we should stop outfielders from doing throws on the run as well.

This guy is like Noah Syndergaard on steroids. Good god.

Falling down afterwards?

Hopefully not literally.

Yes I have seen that as well with these. I was at a facility on Saturday night where 4 minor league guys were doing the same thing. One hit 104. He usually sits around 94. In the end you dont want to fall down with them all of the time. But it does happen. Its a max intent drill.

Well, didn't he already have a PED suspension of some sort? haha

Adderall. A PED in recovery, endurance and focus.

Thanks for clearing that up. I knew it was something but didn't know what.

Fyi- Kopech has stated a goal of throwing a 107 mph pitch in a game.

Looking at the video it looks like an underweighted ball as well.

It was a 3oz ball.

This is pretty standard for an arm strengthening program...

I'd prefer if he had a goal of lowering his walk rate.

Yup. Dude needs some humble pie. I want him to be a bad ass but it's also already kinda hard to root for him.

There's a high D Bag factor there already.

On the pitching side of things, it's too bad locating and changing speeds seem to be secondary to lighting up the radar gun. If Buehrle was a college player now, would he even get drafted?

How is Kopech a dbag for throwing hard?

Yes. 98 with control is way better than 105 without it.

It's not that. It's the whole persona that he's putting out there, as a AA pitcher.
