Kannapolis actually has a day game today, so Hansen starts throwing in about 45 mins

Nice long at-bat leads to a HR for Brandon Dulin. 2-0 Kannapolis.

Hansen has a big bender of a curveball. Attacking with the fastball (lots of foul balls) and tries to put 'em away with the curve.

Nice info. What's his velocity? Does he use his changeup or slider much?

Mid-90s on the fastball. Haven't seen a change or slider but the video quality isn't good so it's hard to tell what is what. He is SUPER slow to the plate and Rome is trying to run all over him.

Adolfo 0-3 2 Ks

Only hits on Hansen so far are infield singles and a bunt single. Only one walk I believe.

Thanks. I wonder if he could work on shortening his motion. It's definitely not the first time he got ran all over.

Hansen 5 IP 3 H 0 R 1 BB 7 K so far. He's been completely dominant.

Hansen is definitely exciting. The size, stuff and early results are definitely there.

This is more a caution to not be overly pessimistic about Giolito, rather than a caution to be optimistic about Hansen, but they are only 3 month apart in age.

Do they always play minor leagues games this early in the morning? The disadvantage of travelling by bus vs. plane?

Hansen done after 6 2/3 IP. 4 Hits, 2 Walks, 0 Runs. 7 Ks.

Very solid game.

Zavala with a 2R HR, Kanny's lead up to 5-0 now, top 8.

Yep and he threw 94 pitches with 65 being strikes. To me, that speaks volumes about his control/command today.

He should be joining Dunning in WS soon.

We never did that twenty years ago.

Apparently the SAL now schedules four game series that go Sat through Tuesday, and due to the unholy bus ride distances...have to give them an early chance to get out of town on Tues. Before, they'd just arrive in the middle of the morning and sleep in. Sometimes starting pitchers were held back or would leave early/separately but they probably stopped that due to liability.

There's only one night game in the entire league today...so those teams must be closer together, geographically.

Obviously, it kills crowds but Tuesday nights never were big draws and now they're used for school groups/ticket giveaways.

Adolfo's hitting streak ends at 16.

A lot of the 10:35 AM start times are "Kids Days" or "Education Days", lots of day camps, schools, etc. come out (being a getaway day is probably another factor in it as well). I always hated getting up earlier to work them but it was a nice change of pace being done for the day at a normal time.

Too many pitches for Lopez so far

3IP, 50 pitches

Roman had day off for Kanny.

Moncada not starting for Knights.

Basabe doing a nice job of walking of late but his average has plummeted. Seems to really struggle vs LHP.

Lopez righting the ship after struggling earlier in April. Unfortunately, those 93 pitches prevented him from starting the 6th (yet one more compelling reason we'll need an excellent bullpen to pair with those young starters early in their MLB careers).

Funny stat note, Jacob May and Yoan Moncada almost have the same OPS. C Blair is actually leading (SSS).

his number are much better

I would like to see him go 7 here and there rather than 5 and 6

He probably could have gone 6 but they're being extra careful with pitch counts and all their young pitchers.

It has really been noticeable with Kopech and Dunning...Hansen as well.

Collins homer!
