You're suggesting that we trade 9 mlb players off of our 25 man roster at the deadline? That is definitely not going to happen, we still need to field a team.

 

Keep in mind that teams would have to make corresponding roster moves in order to absorb 3 MLB players in one trade.

Any person with an expiring contract and control should be off of this roster by August 1, 2017. Absolutely no exceptions. I don't care what it does to our major league roster, they are on a clearance sale as far as I am concerned.

Absolutely. The big league team can be bad. The foundation in the minors is improving and most of the expiring contracts are not part of the future White Sox

The Q rumors will be interesting. With Q's value down a bit from winter, I wouldn't be surprised if interested GM's try to get Hahn to include another player with Q to help offset Hahn's high asking price.

We probably won't trade nine, but I fully expect at least six by the end of August. All the guys with expiring contracts should go and that includes Frazier, Melky, Holland, Gonzalez, & Swarzak. Robertson will definitely be moved as well. And who knows, maybe a surprise is mixed in there as well.

 

As for fielding a roster, that won't be a problem at all. Moncada, Delmonico, Burdi, & Lopez all deserve callups. And we already have a plethora of major league pitchers on the DL that will be coming back in the near future in Jones, Putnam, Petricka, & Shields. And that doesn't even include Covey.

I don't think you dfa or otherwise give up on Frazier, who just last year smacked 40 homers. He has a good history whereas we now want to annoint Davidson as the replacement after two months. Remember his poor play of the last two years. A dh and 3b switch with Todd and Matt makes sense

I think we all know that there will be trades but there are players we still have control and a couple we might even consider extending a year or two until our minor league prospects are ready. There's no need or benefit to a complete tanking

DH Frazier? Screw that. If anything you DH Jose more and let Davidson and Frazier get at bats between 1B and 3B.

The more Frazier plays 3B, and does it well, the higher his value will be.

 

Davidson and Abreu are irrelevant to the discussion...unless Jose's been DHing for 2-3 months and completely goes into the tank offensively sitting on the bench sulking.

The only veterans in contract years who are contributing and perhaps worth extending are Gonzales and Holland because the young pitching is neither ready not particularly deep. But those 2 might also bring something back in trade, so it would make more sense to trade then re-sign if they want them.
