June 1, 20178 yr QUOTE (fredmanrique @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) Putting quintana, abreu and jones in the wait until winter bucket. It starts to look like the only way to get the top 25-125 type guys we have been tracking is to bundle people to the best possible contender. A team seeking a 4/5th starter upgrade and multiple bullpen arms. So positive spin: that is most contending teams by july. Robertson, jennings, migo to WAS for something led by Soto? Swarzak, Frazier, Y. Sanchez to BOS for something led by Groome? Melky, kahnle, holland to STL for kelly? Gut the bullpen, eat money. Add the best prospects possible til q hopefully rebounds in the 2H Doubt Boston wants Swarzak after they crushed him the other night and they won't want Sanchez. But they might want Jones if he comes back strong. But Frazier and Jones won't get Groome. Might get Brian Johnson and a high rated A prospect.

I don't know if they want him or not, but the dinks they hit off him wouldn't exactly scare them off.

That is definitely not going to happen, we still need to field a team. Keep in mind that teams would have to make corresponding roster moves in order to absorb 3 MLB players in one trade.

Any person with an expiring contract and control should be off of this roster by August 1, 2017. Absolutely no exceptions. I don't care what it does to our major league roster, they are on a clearance sale as far as I am concerned.

The foundation in the minors is improving and most of the expiring contracts are not part of the future White Sox

I don't care what it does to our major league roster, they are on a clearance sale as far as I am concerned. I am not saying the Sox should not try to sell off whatever they can at the deadline. I just do not think that we will be able to actually move nine players off of our 25 man roster by the deadline. Holland, Robertson, Swarzak, Melky, Frazier, Gonzalez, etc. should all be on the block. Holland, Robertson and Swarzak have so far played well enough to likely have decent value.

I think almost all will be gone, it probably won't be in bunches though. So far Hahn seems to want to avoid bundling players.

The Q rumors will be interesting. With Q's value down a bit from winter, I wouldn't be surprised if interested GM's try to get Hahn to include another player with Q to help offset Hahn's high asking price.
June 1, 20178 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) Would the Sox want Sale after they crushed him the other night? Didn't we crush a kid from the Rangers last year and then pick him up off waivers like 2 weeks later?
June 1, 20178 yr Author QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) Didn't we crush a kid from the Rangers last year and then pick him up off waivers like 2 weeks later? You mean Hector Noesi?
June 1, 20178 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 02:45 PM) You mean Hector Noesi? No, I guess it was Anthony Ranaudo? But we did do the same with Noesi from Seattle.

That is definitely not going to happen, we still need to field a team. Keep in mind that teams would have to make corresponding roster moves in order to absorb 3 MLB players in one trade. We probably won't trade nine, but I fully expect at least six by the end of August. All the guys with expiring contracts should go and that includes Frazier, Melky, Holland, Gonzalez, & Swarzak. Robertson will definitely be moved as well. And who knows, maybe a surprise is mixed in there as well. As for fielding a roster, that won't be a problem at all. Moncada, Delmonico, Burdi, & Lopez all deserve callups. And we already have a plethora of major league pitchers on the DL that will be coming back in the near future in Jones, Putnam, Petricka, & Shields. And that doesn't even include Covey.
June 1, 20178 yr Yes to this ^ All day. I can't remember a time that many get moved in 2 months, and it is semi-unlikely, but i sure hope that is the goal.
June 1, 20178 yr I don't think you dfa or otherwise give up on Frazier, who just last year smacked 40 homers. He has a good history whereas we now want to annoint Davidson as the replacement after two months. Remember his poor play of the last two years. A dh and 3b switch with Todd and Matt makes sense Edited June 1, 20178 yr by elrockinMT

I think we all know that there will be trades but there are players we still have control and a couple we might even consider extending a year or two until our minor league prospects are ready. There's no need or benefit to a complete tanking Edited June 1, 20178 yr by elrockinMT
June 2, 20178 yr QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) I don't think you dfa or otherwise give up on Frazier, who just last year smacked 40 homers. He has a good history whereas we now want to annoint Davidson as the replacement after two months. Remember his poor play of the last two years. A dh and 3b switch with Todd and Matt makes sense DH Frazier? Screw that. If anything you DH Jose more and let Davidson and Frazier get at bats between 1B and 3B.
June 2, 20178 yr The more Frazier plays 3B, and does it well, the higher his value will be. Davidson and Abreu are irrelevant to the discussion...unless Jose's been DHing for 2-3 months and completely goes into the tank offensively sitting on the bench sulking.
June 2, 20178 yr QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 06:57 PM) I think we all know that there will be trades but there are players we still have control and a couple we might even consider extending a year or two until our minor league prospects are ready. There's no need or benefit to a complete tanking The only veterans in contract years who are contributing and perhaps worth extending are Gonzales and Holland because the young pitching is neither ready not particularly deep. But those 2 might also bring something back in trade, so it would make more sense to trade then re-sign if they want them. Edited June 2, 20178 yr by GreenSox
June 2, 20178 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) Would the Sox want Sale after they crushed him the other night? I doubt the White Sox will trade for Chris Sale. But if you are comparing Swarzak's career to Sale's you may believe that.
