Hopefully Anderson can learn a little bit. The ABs I have seen of Moncada he is usually swinging at the first or second pitch then once he is down to 2 strikes he doesn't chase garbage pitches.

Moncada is putting up quality at bats and is trending in the right direction. He is also blazing fast on the basepaths. I'd like to see them turn him loose and start racking up stolen bases.
August 10, 20178 yr I will be the one to say it... the Moncada walk rate isn't going to continue. In the minors he averaged a walk every 7.45 ABs. He is now at 5.45. It just isn't realistic.

I'd like to see them turn him loose and start racking up stolen bases. Prepare to be disappointed. SB attempts around the league are at an all time low, pitchers and catchers have better arm than ever. Homeruns are at an all time high and that's the main focus of many players, even from the traditional non-power positions. Sox as a team also do not run a lot. We have guys like Anderson, Leury, Engel, and even Saladino who stole more 40 bags in a minor league season, but really were not asked to run a lot.

Sabreheads don't value steals as much because steals in and of themselves knowingly put people on base at risk of being out.

August 10, 20178 yr Barry Bonds had some OBPs north of .600 if I'm not mistaken. His ceiling is Bonds then?
