Looks like Zavala will catch full time now.

Kinda surprising.

Promoted over Eloy... who would've thought. I'm actually more shocked it wasn't Zavala considering his age and numbers right now.

In fact, he tweeted it twice and tagged the white sox twitter account, but deleted it cause he probably jumped the gun. Still saw it and had to give him his props.

V surprising, not sure I support

20 Games left and neither team is making the playoffs....sure, get him acclimated to the Birmingham facilities so it's not new to him next year. I like it.

 

Would like to see the same for Jimenez too.

Not sure I support him getting promoted either, as Zavala seems more deserving. Collins has performed very well in August, batting .343./500/.686 with 11 walks to only 8 strikeouts

 

Zavala has had the more impressive season though.

It gives both guys full time jobs the rest of the year. Collins is the higher prospect so he will be pushed. Its a good move.

I always support pushing prospects. I would have been fine with him or Seby going to Bham.

I support any move that allows both Collins and Zavala to be in the lineup full-time.

 

Collins was going to start 2018 in Birmingham anyway. Mind as well start to get him some AA at-bats.

In the last few weeks, three quality positional prospects have been added to Birmingham in Polo, Jimenez and Collins. Should help that team score some runs for a change.

 

Kopech, Adams and Gurrero get to throw to Collins as well.

I actually think Charlotte will be okay. Likely to have a lot of the same guys that are rotating in and out of our majors. Just not an exciting prospect group.

 

Edit: yeah honestly I think Charlotte will be better this year because Birmingham has good pitching talent (albeit helped by that field)

Both Collins and Jimenez will get a taste of AA and should each start 2018 there as well. They both seem to be on track for a mlb debut at some point in 2019 if everything keeps progressing.

I will really enjoy watching the Charlotte rotation next year. Potentially starting the season with a rotation of:

 

1. Giolito

2. Kopech

3. Stephens

4. Guerrero

5. Adams

I think Gio and Kopech are up once the Sox secure the extra year of control. I'd be tempted to let Kopech start the year in the Sox rotation

I don't know, that seems a little fast for Kopech. He is still just 21, and will be until the start of next year. This is his first year in AA, and he actually only had 11 starts in High-A with the Salem Red Sox. No doubt in my mind that he starts next year in Charlotte, and I personally would leave him there the entire year. He has been lights out recently, but I would like to see what he can do consistently against AAA hitters. I wouldn't be against a call-up around July, but that would be the earliest I would see him with the White Sox.

When should Kopech's next home start be? I'm only seeing TBD on the Barons' website.
