McCutchen to the Giants

Well, I'd like to leverage an $81M payroll to take on money and think pence is perfect and there should be motivation to dump him.

Moving Avi to clear RF for Eloy makes sense. I'm fine keeping Avi and seeing if he forces us to want to keep him long term too.

Soo... I'm interested in getting as much talent as Avi + a bad contract yields to get legit top 50 talent.

If that means Ramos +, and that is universally more than we would get for Avi alone, sure. More assets that either play alongside eloy and robert in the future or help fill holes down the road.

If I could get a top 50 prospect I would totally take on that payroll and give up Garcia. I do not believe the Giants would do that. There was an article a day or two ago about how, despite the fact that they want to contend, the Giants don't want to give up the few pieces they have remaining, including their draft pick for Cain or their 1 or 2 remaining top prospects. I can't find it right now due to the Giants making a tiny bit of news today.

Could honestly see the Giants being good this year. Lot of guys with down seasons last year. They should probably sign whoever the best defensive CF is to help prevent runs and move McCutchen to RF.

Dyson, arguably...

Now what if they go out and sign Darvish/Arrieta... GO GIANTS! hahah

And Bumgarner being a bonehead on a motorcycle...or ATV or whatever it was. They're old...but I agree that it honestly wouldn't surprise me to see them being good this year...but they're a few pitchers away from being that good. That's a very tough division tho. Personally they'd be better served to clean house and rebuild...

Yeah definitely closer to a rebuild than going on a run of world series titles. But as someone pointed out a page or two ago, this core has earned a last chance to go for it.

Lorenzo Cain would be a perfect fit for them.

He would. I don't think they are interested in giving up all the assets it would take to sign him though.

Man if even a 2nd round pick is now considered too much to lose the players just got absolutely rolled in the last CBA. THat was the one thing they cared about.

I don't see the logic from their side at all. Pence was bad last year but he was also unlucky (BABIP) he was also .800 OPS hitter as early as the year before.

My guess before giving up assets to dump his contract they'll give him a chance to bounce back first. He's a sunk cost at this point. I guess the only way it sort of makes sense is if they have one other move they really want to make and Pence salary plus the luxury tax prevents them from doing so.

But honestly McCutchen who is a much better hitter then Garcia (BABIP aside) didn't get a top 50 prospect. It's sort of hard to envision the sox getting one. The curtain has sort of been lifted on what the market is for OF with the McCutchen and Granderson deals and it aint pretty.

Best bet is to probably wait till the deadline. I honestly doubt teams are offering more then a fringy top 100 prospect at this point let alone a top 50 prospect. People need to adjust their expectations its a buyers market right now.
