Elon Musk should have bought naming rights for the rebuild years. Boring Park seems appropriate.

I'm not opposed to moving up Kopech, but I do find it odd that similar to Moncada they are bringing him up immediately after some difficulty rather than when on a roll.

Can you think of a better way to troll the Cubs? I'd honestly love it

If Eloy was coming up, wouldn’t they just do it now? It’s gotta be about a pitcher.

Maybe they are. After all, Rabbit didn't necessarily imply that this was happening Saturday- just that his time at the game on Saturday will be better.

Eloy has about 150 PA in AA and he has like a 330/400/600 slash line.   If you include his 100 or so PA in the DWL (usually considered AA-AAA level) he's basically produced at like a 180 wRC+ level over his last 250 PA at that level.

As I said in the other thread, he's ready to come up and hit 260/320/480 now.  It's only a matter if they want to keep him out of Super 2, which IMO shouldn't really be a concern.  There's no way they can keep him down all year and extend that service time out to next year, not without seriously pissing him off IMO and perhaps poisoning the relationship the Sox have with him.

Anyone have the source tweets this is all about?

Ah, ok. I was late to the party here.

Maybe rabbit is a big fan of Jose Rondon.

I really hope that the Sox arent making decisions based on "trolling the Cubs."

If he’s ready, he’s ready. I trust their judgment

That is exactly what Im saying, they shouldnt be calling him up to troll the Cubs. They should be calling him up because they think he is ready for the majors.

(edit)

And if hes not ready, thats fine too. There is 0 point in rushing guys when the Sox are going to be terrible this year.

Here's a quote from Hahn a few days ago:

“We want to see more effective use of the changeup in the coming starts,” Hahn said, “as well as ideally going deeper in ballgames over the next several.”

So you would have to ask yourself, what changed?

The team knows more about pitching than me. I've got no opinion. I'll enjoy following him in the minors or watching him in the majors.

Not sure what part of "want" and "ideally" you missed in his comments.  Hahn always couches his public statements in plenty of caveats.  Nothing changed and this was the plan all along would be my guess (if they do call him up).

I doubt it is Kopech. If he comes up, someone other than Hahn is calling the shots.

Everytime this comes up (that Hahn doesn't have 100% authority) I have to just ask:  so why the fuck is he on the job?  Why would he risk his entire future employment being the fall guy as the titular "GM" if he's being over-ridden by the owner or KW?

Maybe that's the working relationship they have but JR has never, ever struck me as the meddling type.  KW sure, but if Hahn doesn't have final say on all roster moves than again I'd ask why he has chosen to be the GM of the White Sox.  Maybe he's just a cuck that way, but I doubt it, given his ascendance as one of the younger GMs in the game and his background as a new analytics type.

I agree with this. Just like it's laughable that it would leak out Hahn always wanted to rebuild but was overruled by KW and JR. If it was true, it being leaked would not be considered very loyal, and RH would be looking elsewhere. I

It's time people just realize RH, JR and KW are in agreement.

I don't like the idea of bringing up Kopech yet, especially to throw him into such a high profile game.  There's no need, and he needs some more work.

I would think Eloy makes more sense, but if he's coming up I hope he's coming up to stay.

I think that's how they make most decisions but I would just add that I think Hahn has to have the final say.  KW and JR have input, but I would expect that the final call comes down to Hahn.  Maybe they pressure him at times but I would bet in his contract he has some wording to the effect that he has 100% control on personnel.

Here are the tweets for those wondering, which were sent out within a couple mintues of each other.

No matter who comes up, they're coming up to stay. Hahn is very against calling up a top prospect as a quick rental.

I mean think of it this way. Hahn worked for the White Sox for like a decade before he got the GM job.  Despite being a highly through of future GM, he interviewed for very few jobs, refused interviews in cases, and even pulled out of a process at one point.  He KNEW how the White Sox operated before he accepted the position and still took the job.  No matter what the situation is in the White Sox front office is, Rick Hahn is 100% on board with it, or he wouldn't be here.  He's had tons of chances to leave over the years and never has.  You have to make the read that he wants to be here, which means he is OK with what is happening here.

What it all boils down to is if our bosses were trying to push us to do something we didn't want to do, we'd be looking for a better situation.  Hahn is not any different there.

Now we're questioning Hahn and Kenny's role? Oh Jesus. Sometimes this forum is like 3 topics repeated in every thread. Quick, somebody mention Hawk.

I think Hahn pretty much is responsible for the process and the direction, but he has to come to JR and KW to get a final yes or no for the big things (such a changing direction for a rebuild or spending a lot of money).  Again, for any person who is two levels removed from the top management in his company, this is a completely normal procedure.  No one who has two levels of bosses gets to do things all on their own.
