So on the first pitch Beck ever saw as a major league hitter, Ricky had a suicide squeeze on. What could possibly go wrong?

    Should improve his walk rate.

  • Lopez game by game velocity this year. Clear "tick tock" pattern and we're unfortunately on a "tock" day

I believe this is 9 straight games where Sox pitching has had at least 1 inning where they have allowed 3 runs.

Same shit different day. This, folks, apparently is what a 2nd year rebuilding last place record breaking losing team looks like.

15-0 outscored in first inning of last 4 games

I would bench Nicky right now.

Managers don't do that anymore.  Might hurt his feelings.  Sign of the times.

Oh boy, Avi hurt his hammy again.

Stone just said that Avi reaggravated his hamstring in pregame workouts at Wrigley. Awesome. See you in July.

Disaster season for him

Should be a good test for Lopez. They really didn't hit him very well last inning, but mentally he might feel like he's getting his ass kicked. Has to just buckle in and forget about it

Delmonico is a coach’s son. Usually those guys are well versed on fundamentals, and at least average defenders. Palla is a DH too.

Please spare me another month of Palka playing defense

Well that bizarre

He almost looks competent when you glance at the other corner. They have to be the worst corner combo defensively in baseball by a large margin,

Entering today, Statcast expected Palka to catch 92% of the balls hit to him this season if he were an average defender. Actual catch percentage: 69%

They do it for effort not lack of talent

Unpopular opinion but I don't think Delmonico looks bad on defense. It would appear all the major fielding metrics agree with me, today notwithstanding.

He's awful, eye test and advanced metrics.

He's one of the worst according to fWAR

Jesus go out and cut the grass and come back to a disaster.. wtf happened to Lopez?

Another drop

Another play that needs to be made. With that said, Lopez truly sucks tonight

His DRS for his career is -1 and it's 0 this year. His career UZR/150 is 4.5, 1.9 this year. Statcast has him as 1 out above average, though we know that will be 0 after the whiff earlier today.

EDIT: "His" referring to Delmonico's

Edited by Jake

I hate to say it but if Trayce and Engel were playing, Pittsburgh has at least 2 or 3 fewer runs.

Acceptable outfield defense means Pittsburgh has only 2 runs, for sure

Stop making excuses, Lopez has nothing. Feel free to miss bats Lopez.

Don't know what to make of this outing for Lopez since he's gotten about 3 innings worth of outs
