Lopez getting hit HARD. Not missing bats and everything off Minny bats are being scalded.

Yep very few swings and misses. Amazing how average they are making a 96-97 mph fastball look.

With a below average fastball spin rate, and almost non-existent secondary stuff, I'm not sure he's anything more that AAAA fodder to be honest. I have more faith in Giolito and Dunning than him. Giol

  • Probably a Giolito start absent of walks.

  • Watch out, you are gonna get Thad and WBWSF in here repeating themselves with this bat signal

Nice play by Leury, another good Yoan tag

Ha hits a great pitch hard somehow then gets cut down.  Good job Leury.

He had to be thinking the ball would be wet and affect the throw, or maybe an inkling in his mind at least because almost every LF in the league throws him out easily there.

That was a pretty good tag too. Gave him nowhere to go but into his mitt.

Doing his best TA impression at SS, nice.

Yeah really. His lack of missing bats is kind of baffling with his stuff. To be honest I'd like to see what his spin rate is on his fastball compared to MLB average. I'll go look it up.

Moncada ?

YES!!! A BULLET OFF THE BAT OF MONCADA AND IT'S A NEW BALLGAME!

Moncada swung that one sweet

Hell yes Yoan. He was flying

Good lord Yoan can FLY.  TA might be quicker but nobody is faster 1st to 3rd than Yoan.

Man, that was some impressive speed from Yoan. He doesn't really "look" fast either when he does that. He moves almost robotically. As opposed to Anderson going home-to-third.

Morneau is heaping praise on Jose, said he "works as hard as anybody" and "loves baseball".

Great sell job, Jose...lol

Take the walk Avi, christ.

Cuts the bases well, especially rounding 3rd heading home

That's awful.

Back injury was the beginning of the end of his successful season.

It's probably the build and skin color but I cannot help but liken Lopez a bit to Dave Stewart.  As I kid it always seemed like Stewart was a tough customer that never would give in, even if he didn't really have much other than one pitch and some guts.  I see Stewart had 27 career fWAR.  I would take that from Lopez, to say the least.
