  • It seems a little unfair to criticize Benetti, in this context. He is not an ex player. He has has his own strengths, as well. He has a good voice, is a pretty well rounded and intelligent young man.

I want to see Lopez using & commanding his slider & changeup today.  He’s not going to make it as a starter with a two pitch mix.

Swing the freaking bat.  What a head case.

K looking to start the game for Moncada.

It had a piece of the plate there. He just has to swing more.

Yep, happened just after Konerko was saying you can't try to walk yourself through a season.

I didn’t realize that Moncada has two options left.  Obviously no reason to use one at this point, but I hope the front office isn’t afraid to have him spend some time in Charlotte if he doesn’t show signs of figuring shit out early next year.

3 things are guaranteed in life, taxes, death, and Moncada striking out to start the game

That’s where a demotion to Charlotte could have come in handy. You want to come back? Swing the bat.

Oh well.

I will never understand why they moved him back to the leadoff spot after he said he felt more comfortable lower down because he got to see what the pitcher had.  Ricky must have been busy talking to Avi about his hustle when Yoan made those comments.

Konerko just offered some very astute and wise observations about Moncada. I hope most of you heard him.

His assertion is that it's very hard to come into the League, as a young hitter, and expect to walk 100 times, and to get the close calls. He advocates a little more aggressiveness, in order to establish that you can be dangerous. The walks will come, with that respect.

Konerko essentially just said that free swingers like Palka are much easier to mold than tentative swingers like Moncada

poor Avi, his season is falling apart.  Probably costing himself a decent amount of money trying to play through the lower body injuries.

Lopez has great velocity today, but man he must give away his changeup somehow.  11 mph gap and the KC hitter looked like it was a batting practice pitch.

and now a 97 mph high fastball with 2 strikes is destroyed, as Lopez continues to have the ball tail right over the plate during the second half of the season.

I'm loving Konerko, in the booth. He's very interesting.

Lopez getting torched.

He’s qualified to do anything in Baseball. Very intelligent.

absolutely horrible inning for Lopez.  That last homer another example of his terrible fastball command this season.

another pitch that tailed to the center of the plate.

haha, Cooper FINALLY wakes up from his nap.  How does the most overrated coach in baseball decide to finally come talk to his pitcher after he's allowed 6 runs in an inning?

Hopefully Davidson pitches today.  At least he has a strikeout pitch.

I’m just glad Giolito and Lopez have made their starts. They’re getting experience in their first full seasons. Lopez has obviously been better overall, but both will be better next year just by making 31-32 starts this year. At least, that’s my hope.

Lopez had the 2nd worst xFIP in baseball during the first half of the year (trailing only Giolito for qualified pitchers) and is easily the worst in the 2nd half.  It's getting to the point where if he struggles the first half of next year, you have to reconsider your options with him.
