  • Signing Pollock is a great way for Engel to get 350 ABs as the starting CF too.

  • You know, what about Yoan at catcher?         ?

Hopefully Passan is on to something and we start seeing some movement on the FA front.  There anticipation is killing me!

What is Passan "on to?" He just said it's the first signing with his comment and not suggesting things will heat up.

Hopefully he's "on to" that it is in fact a good sign for free agency and we have much more action earlier rather than something like last year's debacle.  The class of FAs is better this year no doubt, but last off-season was relatively "meh" IMO.

Also, apparently the Phillies are looking into SP help.

That sounds like an entirely Yankees move. Solve 1B, get a good SP short term, take most of the contract, and pay peanuts (in talent sent in trade) to get 2 quality, productive players. Also secretly hoping they'll do it to quash any Machado to Yankees talk.

Why would that quash Machado to the Yankees talk? They're the Yankees, they could up their payroll by $100 million this year and they might even still stay under the tax, but we know they'll pay the tax to win. They could take on both of those, sign Corbin, and sign Machado.

Pretty good platoon between him and Moreland. And it's not like he's just a 1B.

Brian Cashman to MLB.com: "I don't think it really matters what we wind up doing, as long as we do well enough that we become the best team in baseball. We're capable of being big-game hunters. We've reset our luxury tax."

Be afraid people...be very afraid.

NY and the Phillies trying to big dick swang over all the other teams with their pompous comments about spending loads of money. I hope the Sox silence one of them by outbidding for Harper/Machado
