Jack: I don't follow your reasoning.  Rodon has pitched slightly better than Lopez and Giolito this season. All 3 have been pretty mediocre. Why do you see Rodon as the worst of the 3?

He's been around the longest, he's been injured, and has a history of not throwing strikes and going past the 5th inning. He isn't the same guy he was before his shoulder injury. I'm not sure he can get by at 90-93. His fastball command is nowhere near good enough.

Quite frankly, I still see room for growth with Giolito and Lopez but I don't see any with Rodon.  There is some deterioration of stuff with Rodon after his injury, but that is to be expected.

Don't worry everyone. Ricky will eventually be replaced by Omar Vizquel...  who.also.loves.bunting. Awww, hell.  Fuck it all.

  • Anderson is now officially the first Sox middle infielder to finish a month with > 1.000 OPS since Jose Valentin in 2004

So, to be clear ... we have been really hurt today by two players, hitting in the bottom of the order, that entered the day with a .183 and .192 batting averages.

Cashner couldn’t strike out my grandma, yet he’s mowing down the Sox AAA team

Problem we tried to tell you after he was acquired is he wouldn’t be able to give the innings because he was going to get shelled in the AL.

I have argued in the past I don't like NL pitchers and hitters so I was hoping for the best and I still am hoping he has some positive regression. Obviously doesn't look good now but there's really been nothing in the last 3 years to indicate he'd be this bad. Basically all he was doing was replacing SHields and I did expect a Shields like year without the all walks.

I'm not always right  but I'm not wrong yet until we see how the rest of his year goes. If he lasts a whole year

Lack of strikeouts was a huge red flag

Adam Engel wants to stay above the Mendoza Line apparently.

If Nova was giving a 4.60 ERA and going 6 innings each start it would be fine. He's more like 2016 Shields.

Ha all of a sudden Engel looking better than Cordell . Adam the Cat Engel , he of the 9 lives.

Love Moncada walks.

In the NL...  usually facing a pathetic #8 hitter and #9 pitcher.

6.3/9 isn't that terrible he's averaging the same as he was in the NL.

SHOULD BE. But we both know the answer to that. :)

SO far yes I agreed. Rebuild year poor start . Yes it sucks . Hope for better all we can do .

Abreu has a terrible history of helping pitchers out. Stop swinging at shit out of the zone. Take your walk if he's giving it to you.

He was 56 out of 57 last year for qualified starters in K rate

That was ball 4

What a beast!  Nice base running

Haha Cashner why would you throw that in the zone? Stupid pitch. He was getting himself out.

Jose  strikes again!

You are expecting too much for $9 million dollars.  Be happy with an 8.49 ERA.

He's gotta be into the deep hundreds at this point in terms of lives

Which is the worst part of the acquisition.  Shows how behind the times the Sox are when it comes to modern pitching.
