Thing is I don’t think he’s hitting seven because Ricky recognizes a matchup problem. Yonder for example is struggling like crazy and even when facing guys he’s historically not hit well he’s still in the middle of the order. There’s just no reason for a mediocre offense to ever put one of its best bats in the bottom third of the order. 

How did he not catch that?

Alonso has had two 3-1 counts today. The first time around, he grounded out weakly to second base. The second time around, he fouled off a high sinker and proceeded to pop out softly to short.

McCann is a damn good catcher

Great defense all around there by Sanchez, Abreu, and McCann. Beautiful play 

I’m sure Castillo and Narvaez would have been backing up third base like McCann just did there (sarcasm)

McCann is one of RH’s best recent acquisitions. 

Something funny that may have gone unnoticed on that last play to end the inning. Tim fired a bullet to Abreu for whatever reason, and Abreu just kind of looked at him and fired the ball back at him as they cut away. 

McCann's bat is going to regress, but that's smart baseball that can't be taught. For a team that does stupid defensive things so commonly, and has for years, that's awesome to see. Who else is in the James McCann fan club?
