Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

  • my only philosophy on baseball (as a young person) is that old players like colome are useless (as are saves, since I am a statnik) and should be force retired. If that's not possible, flipping them i

  • I'd say put a silly value on him and if teams dont meet it just keep him.

Yah, that 60 at bat sample size really tells us all we need to know there.

Hahn is just trying to get the phone to ring.  There is no way they keep him.  Not with what is going on with the RP market now.

I still think the Sox stand pat with Alex. I imagine Hahn is asking for the moon for Colome, and nobody will want to pay that.

Nationals just got Hudson. If Braves get Greene, it’s probably Brewers or bust

Nats need more than one arm though.

Does Hudson really take Nationals out of Colome? I feel Colome is a full tier above Hudson. Did the Phillies get someone other than Parker?

I think Parker is just a guy they took a flier on. They shouldn‘t be counting on him to pitch in high leverage situations. His stuff has diminished,

Edwin Diaz reportedly out of play.  Seems like the closer market is quickly coming down to Greene & Colome.

They’re about to walk with Elias

There had been a lot of Red Sox talk of backing off Diaz and jumping to Hudson. Maybe they are looking elsewhere for a closer.

Nats have Doolittle, a nice arm in a guy named Suero and a whole bunch of garbage. Good god is there pen bad.

Yeah that was my point - Phillies would still be in the market for a relief arm.

I don't think anything else is going to happen.

Nats farm is pretty weak. Sure they could swing a deal, but outside of their top guys not a whole lot appeals to me.

Yankees still need a starter. Hopefully Hahn  has at least dangled Lopez in case Cashman gets panicky.

Nats #4 prospect Wil Crowe was going to be the Sox pick if Gavin Sheets didn't make it to them in the 2nd in 2017.

Crowe immediately stands out to me as a potential trade fit, not sure if the Nationals would give up their minor league starter closest to the majors though?

Not sure.

Looks like Nats getting Elias though. Can't imagine they trade for three relievers so that would rule them out.

Scratch the Nats off

Lopez? Why in the world would we  trade Lopez?

With that news, Nats likely out on relief help. They opted to go down the cheaper trade route.

Will be interesting to see if a contender jumps in for Colome here shortly. A deal could come together fast after weeks of build up?

And why would Yankees want him for the postseason

I saw a tweet saying the Nats are saying they are going to trade for 3 relievers.

I haven't seen anything on what the Sox asking prices are.  This is either because

A.  They for some reason aren't serious in trading him

B.  They are doing the stealth thing again

So are the Dodgers really going to stand pat if they don't get Vazquez?
