The Tampa Bay/Montreal Rays

Featured Replies

I just read where the Tampa Bay Rays might be playing half of their home games in Montreal. This tells most people that the Rays franchise might not be in St. Pete too much longer. I remember when  JR came very close to moving the White Sox to St. Pete. I was acquainted with former Chicago sports writer Bill Gleason. Gleason was the only sports writer in the city  who was a life long White Sox fan. He hated both JR and Einhorn and they hated Gleason.  Gleason told me that the Tampa Bay/St. Pete market will be a graveyard for MLB. He was right . And to think that JR came very close to moving there. The  threatened move to Florida is another stain on the  legacy of JRs ownership of the White Sox.

Just to clarify. The sox were never "close" to moving there. It was never anything more than a bargaining chip. It's amazing how many took that threat seriously.

This shit again?  Plenty of other teams have used the exact same ploy to get what they want, and succeeded.   It not new or unique .  The Sox are in Chicago, they will be for the foreseeable future

Portland, aka rip city, is the move to make.

yes, just move them here to PDX.

If last weekend proved anything, it is that Sox fans are fickle and only support a winner.

If you build it, they will come.

I heard that somewhere before.

The Montreal/Tampa split season thing is such a terrible and boderline impossible idea that I must see it happen.

It's non Sox news which is why I already posted it in the diamond club.

Montreal deserves a team in their own right in my opinion. This seems to be a move to pressure the area into supplying funds for a new stadium. We'll see if it works or not.
