Sox are in no place to be trading top prospects for 2 year players.  People can wishcast, rub the rabbit's foot, but they aren't in a position to win next year.

Agree to disagree

I give Jason Kinander some credit. He has swung and missed more than Adam Dunn, but he keeps on swinging.

I predict they will dangle Abreu, Bummer and Colome and walk away from trade offers since they won’t get the value they want. 15 days to go.

I’m surprised you don’t fear the team jet going down, because that’s the only part of Murphy’s Law you’re missing.

I will trade any pitching prospect.

Trading Kopech for Thor provides certainty at the top of the rotation, but ultimately leaves a hole that will still need to be filled.  That doesn’t make any sense IMO.

Is Thor even an ace?  Kopech is untouchable for me, but if you want to do Cease, Walker and Collins for him....I’m game

Cease has tons of upside and contract control.  Don't like trading that for someone with 2 years of control.  Cease is likely to have a better year in 2020 than Thor.

Hard pass on trading any top prospects for pitching. Plenty of pitching on the FA market and all you have to do is pay them. So stupid to trade Cease or Kopech for pitching.

You’re giving up on Cease after three starts?

Not giving up by any means, but I don’t think he’s a TOR pitcher due to his inability to go long in games.  I also don’t trust Cooper to bring the best out of him.

That is a highly premature take.  Cease has been struggling with control issues all year which is why he hasn't been able to go deep. I would give him at least 2 full years before you can make that kind of determination.

Also the Sox don't have any logical pieces to get Thor.  He's going to end up in either SD, HOU, or LAD in that order.

This stove is ice cold though and it's irritating.  I just want the Sox to do something interesting with the limited tradeable assets we have.  Hahn has been pretty good at getting value out of trades so we will find out very soon.  Colome and Leury are 100% gone imo.  It looks like they want to hold onto Bummer to see if he can close next year which I'm 50/50 on as he would help bring back a better return.

Thor will likely only cost a top 40ish guy with a couple interesting prospects paired. The sox could acquire Thor if they want. I'd consider it for anyone but for Mad and Robert in the minors right now.

It's been 3 starts. My lord.

You’d give up Vaughn for Thor?  That’s the only other guy that fits your criteria.

Hahn is good at flying under the radar.  I expect some type of deal with Colome involved that isn't being talked about.

So, Vaughn?  No thanks.  After Robert, Madrigal, and Vaughn we don't have anybody else even in the top 100.

No, not really.

How do you know he's unable to go long in games?

Cause that’s not the type of pitcher he is. I’ve always compared him to Rich Harden. Thing is,  I would rather he be an effective 5 inning pitcher throwing gas than trying to make him be a cookie-cutter starter that paces himself.

You’re right, no one else over the last few years ever questioned his ability to minimize his pitch count.

The grass always looks greener on the other side of the street.

Max Scherzer also struggled to go deep in games early in his career.  Show some patience.

yeah same, and that should be fine.

You would think things start picking up this weekend....
