  • This is an awful point.  It wasn't more enjoyable than Hawk and Stone, it was a one time novelty.  If that happened for 162 game season people would want to murder Walton by game 3

A genius that deserves an extension.  But it is easy with Usain Bolt on 3rd.

Walton is by nature someone that is going to be loved or hated.   I found myself laughing more than I can remember watching a televised game. Would I want that all year? of course not.

Giolito has evolved into the right-handed Robbie Ray.

I don't think last year's Giolito is what he is now or will see going forward, of course not.

But I don't think the Giolito we saw the first half of the season will be the Gio we see going forward either, for whatever reason I don't know. I think that was aberration.

I think the one we see now is the one we're gonna see the rest of his time with the Sox. Not spectacular like he was earlier this season, but a good solid, smart pitcher who takes the ball and most of the time gives you a chance to win and will get you around 14 wins a year.

Do you agree?

Gavin Floyd was the comp throughout last season...solid 2/3.

Love the K's but Thaiss, Rengifo and Benboom isnt exactly Murderer's Row.

He's K'd Trout and Ohtani tonight... I'm satisfied.

I was waiting for him to say four and blow Bill's mind wide open.

Bill's mind was blown wide open long ago. I think at a Dead concert in '91. One of several Dead concerts Bill was at that year.

This is a gamethread, no room for patience, only hot takes.

Saying that Eloy sucks at defense is the truth, not a hot take.

Me too since Trout kills the Sox.

Fixed it for you.

"Sandoval gets Tim out."
"BUT WE'RE WINNING SO IT DOESN'T MATTER."

Usually during a pitching change, the analytic teams would have the iPad out to look at the stats, numbers, etc. Didn't see it from the Sox there.

Good point. When you see stuff like that, it's very disconcerting for many reasons.

Man, Walton really loves his 60’s/70’s music and getting stoned.

We agree on that one.

At least he’s well read.  How much he remembers is another question altogether.

We really need to clean house on the entire coaching staff.  Every other team is evolving, getting younger, and using analytics.  Meanwhile, the Sox are staying in the Stone Age of baseball strategy with Ricky, Coop, and the gang.  Ricky and Coop go by their gut, not statistics.

Also, what you said about Steele Walker in RF and then moving Eloy to DH does make sense. If Eloy isn't showing marked improvement on defense by mid-next year, you're right. Have to really start looking at moving him to DH as Abreu (really actually does) starts to decline. But in the mean time, give him a chance to improve.

Trout, lol.  How can the greatest player in baseball and eventually in baseball history be so unknown and unmarketable?

Yea but 14 for his last 20 against the Sox ,the stat I saw last night, is just  a little bit better than his average killing.

Edit_ I posted this before I even saw he just homered.

Trout was looking for something offspeed that entire sequence. Giolito could've threw a fastball down the middle to strike him out.

Trout just proved he is a smarter than McCann there.

Might want to stop pitching him low.  If he’s going to beat you, make it be on something up in the zone.

After Walton realized it was Trout (halfway around second), it was a decent HR call ?
