Twins @ Sox 8/29 Berrios vs Cease

We should probably expect some sort of adjustment period for Robert and Madrigal as well.

Robert has many of the same holes Eloy does at the plate. Struggles with velocity up and in and chases any and all sliders.  Madrigal shouldn’t have a big adjustment.

  • Their entire team is on roids and you can’t convince me otherwise. This is comical

  • Ehh.  Coaching most definitely.  Talent-wise - I mean, they're good.  But they're also pretty stop gappy and have very little pitching outside of Berrios.  Buxton is really good when he's healthy

  • He needs to do that more.  His hit tool has been borderline nonexistent.

I think that goes without saying, just a little puzzling how well both of Cease and Eloy finished last year we thought they'd come up and succeed fairly quickly. Baseball is hard

Robert acclimating to MLB is still a huge upgrade over Engel at his best.

It’s been apparent since May that Cease would struggle with his command in the majors.

Every player gets that slack. Doesn't matter the team.

My problem with Cease is that his AAA season wasn't exactly great either.  He's going to have to prove he belongs next year, because Kopech will probably be up in May and Dunning could push him too.  And of course, Rodon later on.

High fastball and Eloy pounds it into the ground. I’m thrilled the organization is considering fixing his stance/swing, as he reminds me so much of Avi his first few years.

Just curious. Cease got some experience this year. Should we just send him back down to work on some things. Let him pitch two more weeks in AAA then shut him down?

I don't really care either way and am still high on him.

Good god, this is pathetic

Yikes.

Wow

Fathom deserves credit for saying that all year. He has noticed.

Get him out of there. I truly believe that injuries and underperformance forced Cease to the Majors this year. It's pretty clear that he's not ready.

Odds that Cease gets shut down after this start? This is Very reminiscent of Kopech’s last start

Never Cease to amaze me

Is this finally the Twins' year? WS champs?

Cease has had good outings tainted by awful innings.

This is the worst I've seen him at any point all season by a wide margin. He needs to sit.

I approve of this sentiment.

Yankees are their kryptonite. They probably can't get past Houston either

Sox are so far behind the Twins in terms of talent and coaching, it’s not even funny.

Revisit this statement next June.

Cease threw far too many sliders today. Not a good idea when it’s his 3rd best pitch.

It has a better pitch value than his curveball?

God forbid that one of our rookies should hit the ground running like the countless times we've seen it done by players on other teams.

Exactly what I was thinking.
