Way too low on Ben Bailey and Tyler Johnson.

Am losing faith in any of Basabe, Rutherford, Gonzalez, Adolfo. Feel as though 2020 is make or break. I'd be fine moving all down to bottom third of your 30.

I respect the game but this year more just into "my guys" that I'm excited for. Basabe/Rutherford/Sheets certainly "better" prospects than them but they've been in system for years and not who I'll be on.

My Guys 2020 (alternate name "HOT WATCH 2020")

1. Bailey

2. Thompson

3. Dalquist

4. Gladney

5. Jose Rodriguez

6. Brayan Ramos

7. Ronaldo Guzman

8.  Bryce Bush

9. Lenny Sosa

10. James Beard

Yolbert and Gladney will be the fastest risers in the system this year, for me.

I like Gladney a lot; the K's don't concern me at all. He's a midwest kid who was thrown into professional ball at 17 years old with limited reps and he showed huge power and skill/tools. He may struggle early, but I think he finds it and gets more comfortable as the year goes on.

Yolbert - He'll either be a player who was scouted well and performs much better than he did when he was young - I give him a pass for the long layoff - or he's a bum. I trust the Cuban scouting in general - Paddy's eye for that talent as well - so I'll trust that he's had more tools and talent than his production showed when he was younger.

Going to be a big year for Bryce too - repeating A ball. He'll be at the right age now, and if he adjusts he could be big for the organization. Health a big key for him, obviously.

This list shows just how many more interesting guys we have in the lower levels than we ever had before.  Obviously the bust rate will be high on these guys, but damn will they be fun to follow this year.

That being said, I think your list is running at least ten too short for me.  These are the other guys of high interest for me:

  • Luis Mieses, OF (#20 by BA)
  • Lency Delgado, SS
  • Anderson Comas, OF (#23 by BA)
  • Victor Torres, C (#25 by BA)
  • Jefferson Mendoza, C (#30 by BA)
  • Harvin Mendoza, 1B
  • Sam Abbot, 1B
  • Cavers Weaver, OF
  • Logan Glass, OF
  • Ruben Benavides, C

Logan Glass is certainly a name to keep an eye on as well. You get lucky sometimes with high schoolers and that first off-season the game clicks for them and they take off young. It's not often but it's possible.

  1. Luis Robert, CF
  2. Michael Kopech
  3. Andrew Vaughn

  9. Micker Adolfo, RF
  10. Jimmy Lambert, RHP
  11. Blake Rutherford
  12. Luis Basabe
  13. Yermin Mercedes
  14. Zack Collins
  15. Norge Vera (FUN!)
  16. Gavin Sheets
  17. Luis Gonzalez
  18. Ian Hamilton, RHP
  19. Tyler Johnson, RHP
  20. Danny Mendick
  21. Bernardo Flores
  22. Benyamin Bailey, OF
  23. Zack Burdi
  24. Konnor Pilkington, LHP
  25. Luis Gonzalez, CF
  26. Codi Heuer, RHP
  27. Yolbert Sanchez
  28. DJ Gladney
  29. James Beard, CF
  30. Jake Burger (just gotta if he ever plays again lol)

I am the high man on Yermin and the low man on Collins.  I think they are the same profile (DH/1B) and I strongly prefer Yermin's bat.

Yermin Mercedes is 27-years-old without a defensive position. He's a fun player and can rake. This is wayyy too high though.

Collins is 25 without a defensive position.  I don't see a large gap there.

Yeah I disagree. Collins can play catcher on a part-time basis and can play 1B. He also walks and hits from the left side. I don't think Mercedes can catch even part time.

But what do you know about the Sox minors?

Rick Hahn isn't going to come out and say "Yermin sucks behind the plate."

He's also said Collins can catch and defensively improved.
