White Sox vs Athletics: Reylo against Bassitt

Featured Replies

Without question... Given Lopez’ seemingly fragile psyche, Grandal possesses the optimal combination of; catching experience, game calling confidence, relentless opposition research/intelligence and pitch framing expertise, needed to successfully navigate Lopez through his pitching starts.

Anyone putting Bassitt in the rotation over Reylo is crazy, imo. Bassitt is 31 years old and he had one decent season with a 4.4 FIP and 2.1 fWAR. That was in Oakland as well - one of the easiest

Mejia looks upset about coming out of the game there... I thought I saw him mouth to Ricky "but this is my El Duque moment"

Grandal will be a breath of fresh air for us fans and the staff after years of bad framing.

Couple more runs for Oakland on some soft contact.  Fulmer comes on and gets the last two outs without too much bother.  Mendick made the final out at SS, doesn't appear to hvae the strongest arm.

true dat

Delmonico leads off the bottom of the 4th with a single to RF.

EE does not get cheated.

EE grounds into the Sox 3rd DP of the afternoon.

EE killed a few worms with that one, mercy.

Fulmer's delivery looks a little less max effort this spring.

Fulmer still looks like a gascan.

Man am I glad we only play Oakland twice a season. Would rather face the Yankees or Astros tbh. This team loves to destroy the Sox.

Unfortunately, an inability to effectively  locate his pitches continues to be Fulmer’s Achilles Heal.

Nice play by Collins on the wild throw by Sheets at home and saves a run.

Yup he has absolutely zero idea where the ball is going and his stuff isn't good enough to be "effectively wild".  Leaves a lot of 94 mph flat fastballs in the zone.

Fulmer about to load the bases.  Has no control on his off speed stuff at all.

LOL classic reverse jinx as he throws his best changeup of the day to get the K on the full count.  Pretty ballsy .

Great swing by Collins as he stays on a low fastball against a lefty and rifles it into right.

Robert works a walk.  Solid AB.  Chance for Madrigal to drive in a run.

There ya go Nick!  Rips a single up the middle on 0-2 for the RBI.

Madrigal 2 strike golf single into CF scores Engel.  4-3.

Not really sure how the fuck Robert didn't take 3rd there.  Must have badly misread the play.

That was a great AB. Showed a good eye laying off those low and away breaking pitches. He is going to see a diet of those this season and it's important he starts to spit on those.

If he could be at least below-average with the bat (rather than one of the worst in the league on that end) I'd love him as a backup. Above-average and you're talking about a starting CF.

Above average with the bat and you are talking about one of the top 3 CF'ers in the game and a 5 WAR type of player.

Robert is nothing like Tim Anderson; he will take his walks if he doesn't get what he wants. He won't run 10+% walk rates, but it'll be around league average I think.
