1 Tantalizing Trade Chip for all 30 teams

Spencer Turnbull, Matthew Boyd, Forrest Whitley, Robbie Ray, Kevin Gausman all could be on the move.  James McCann the White Sox name considered most intriguing/valuable this season.

Another potential RF solution...

Padres: Wil Myers, OF
Under club control through: 2023

Depending whether San Diego ultimately winds up as a buyer or a seller, Myers could be part of any trade. He’s off to a hot start (.965 OPS, 5 home runs through Thursday's games) and makes a ton of money (he’s owed $40 million from 2021-22, plus a $20 million club option for '23 with a $1 million buyout). So if the Padres have a chance to move him, they would likely jump at it whether it brings back prospects or useful big league players.

Our old friend Joc Pederson also on the market, potentially.

Big no to Will Myers. He is not worth that contract and even if they eat some it hurts the chance of paying for a starter. Peterson can be an option, but only if the price is reasonable. With all the Sox injuries, many of the trade chips are probably not appealing right now

Jose Iglesias makes sense.

ALL THE CUBANS.   Trademark pending with MLB Advanced Media/BAMTECH/MLB Properties.

Here’s why, beyond the Cuban Connection. It’d be nice to have some credible insurance for Tim; I’m sure he’s also going to need a day here and there. I think Iglesias could handle 2b if needed. I don’t think he’d cost a lot.

Yeah seriously, Will Meyers is NOT an option

If they were willing to send $8-10 million per year for two years + $1 million buyout, of course he'd be an option.   For example, they need a 2B if Profar can't hold the position down...ultimately, they'd like to swap out Myers for Taylor Trammell if everything goes as predicted, or they would have to play Josh Naylor or Olivares everyday in the OF (assuming a Myers trade happens, which is 50/50 at best).

How much are we realistically willing to pay Springer or Joc Pederson?

It's going to be more or less than $10-12 million per season, yes?

Would really love to keep McCann around after the season, but not sure that's possible...Hopefully it's being considered

Is there a manager we can trade for at the deadline?

I highly doubt Super Joe McEwing would do much better...but hey, why not?  Id take Omar Vizquel back at this point.

Justin Jirschele is the one everyone is pointing to internally.

Just pick a random poster on here and theyd do better than that imbecile sitting in the dugout every day

The Sox would be foolish to trade their best catcher James McCann.

Hopefully can retain him

There are 73 million reasons he isn't coming back.

A competent, competitive organization would find a way to keep both

McCann is not sticking around to be a 3 day a week starter. It wouldn’t be the best use of resources by the Sox anyways.

As soon as Myers gets here, he'd revert to his usual  .750 OPS.

I will be absolutely floored if Reinsdorf adds one penny to payroll this season.

Iglesias would be a good option to trade for the sox after the injuries to madrigal and Garcia thinned out the sox IF depth. His bat obviously won't stay this good but he is a good defender, makes contact and seems to have made a little power jump from a no power guy to 11 bombs last year and while he has hit no homers this year he hit tons of doubles and his exit velo took another step forward.

Don't think he is super expensive either as at 30 years of age he won't be part of the next Os window so he wouldn't cost any of the sox top 9 prospects plus he has a club option for 21, which means in case he is good you get him another year and if he is bad he is gone for free making this super low risk financially.

I would like that deal. Sox shouldn't sell the farm but they have no middle infield help coming up so having Iglesias for 20 and 21 would be a nice insurance and while he is not a stud he is an upgrade to mendick and leury especially since he can play a good shortstop too.

Caulfield wants us to trade Benyamin Bailey, Norge Vera, Elijah Tatis, DJ Gladney, Logan Glass, or Bryan Ramos for Will Myers while the Padres eat half of his contract so he can then post about it for the next decade.

Once again, give me a good option besides Springer and Pederson...

Left Fielders

Michael Brantley (34).  Maybe, but aging/oft injured vets in 30s for White Sox usually work out so wonderfully well?
Ryan Braun (36) — $15MM mutual option with a $4MM buyout  No no hell no
Yoenis Cespedes (35)  Ummm...maybe, call me crazy
Leury Garcia (30)   Option controlled by Sox for $3.25/3.5 million
Brett Gardner (37) — $10MM club option for 2021  Umm.  Already discussed this offseason but even older
Marwin Gonzalez (32)  Steal from Twins...Astros numbers thing of the past
Alex Gordon (37) Hahn lucked out once. Double down in foolishness?
Brad Miller (31)  No no no
Marcell Ozuna (30)  See 19-20 offseason debates, great numbers overall so far year.  Will be in huge demand if that form keeps up through playoffs.
Joc Pederson (29)  Horrible season so far strictly platoon bat like Mazara
Hunter Pence (38) 4th/5th decorated veteran presence

Center Fielders

Jackie Bradley Jr. (31). KW always gets his man?  Numbers way down in dumps, buy low to protect Robert defensively, hope for elusive offensive revival yet again?
Jarrod Dyson (36)  2013-2016 is long gone
Brett Gardner (37) — $10MM club option with a $2.5MM buyout. See above
Enrique Hernandez (29)  definitely ely intriguing winning highly versatile player from winning org
Jake Marisnick (30) no no no
Starling Marte (32) — $12.5MM club option with a $1MM buyout. Let's see if AZ can afford him
Cameron Maybin (34) No no no
Kevin Pillar (32) Maybe as Engel replacement but unlikely
George Springer (31)
Michael A. Taylor (30)  maybe perennial underachiever has stuck around

Right Fielders

Jay Bruce (34). Too limited defensively. All or nothing guys we have enough of
Nicholas Castellanos (29) — can opt out of remaining three years on contract. Would be buying high high high past peak value
Adam Eaton (32) — $10.5MM club option with a $1.5MM buyout Haha haha. To protect women from child trafficking rings with Adam LaRoche as Sox Community Relations Ambassador??
Robbie Grossman (31). Has overachieved recently.  Goes to Sox falls apart like Keppy.
Matt Joyce (36) Older than Old Yeller
Nick Markakis (37) fourth OF who just might have one shot left at glory?
Hunter Pence (38) 4th/5th guy?
Josh Reddick (34). At least interesting/intriguing but AGE issue again, would have to scout extremely well
Steven Souza Jr. (32)  Younger/youngish, worth a flier?

Giancarlo Stanton (31) — can opt out of remaining seven years, $218MM    Albert Belle Two, here we come...Sox shock the entire baseball world with Jerry signing off from deathbed...”win me another damn World Series, at this point, i don’t gaf what it costs or exactly how it it adversely affects/impacts cleverly constructed tax plans or my rotten spoiled lazy no good messing up the Bulls for yet another generation sons”

There you go Sox.  14 players for KW.  Put ‘em on the Big Board, now.  Let’s get to work, advance scouts & Roget Bo Zard.

They could also just not lock themselves into a bad situation out of desperation, which is what got them into this spot in the first place.

Which requires, you guessed it, masterful talent evaluation and/or development.  Ideally both?
