Chances for Subway (Crosstown) White Sox/Cubs series this year

I can't believe people wouldn't want to see this happen. It would be incredible.

I don't want a crosstown series unless we win it.  Simply unbearable to live with my Cub fan friends and relatives should we lose.

Why anyone would want to see the Cubs in the Series is beyond me.  I want them to be a perennial seller dweller while the Sox win every year.  I much prefer to tune out their existence than fanticise about facing them in the World Series.

The series has been generically referred to as a "subway series" for decades by fans and some in the media, including the late Jack Brickhouse, who announced games for both the White Sox and Cubs. But anyway, some people have to be little wizeass b1tches and pick, pick, pick instead of trying to contribute any useful or original thought.

This year, anything can happen...and if it does...bring on that bullpen...holy cow.

Seriously? I get that it would be different this year due to covid. In a normal year it would be even more awesome. Having both fanbases in the same city, being able to banter and talk shit with all my Cubs fan friends during it. Being in a bar that is split in half between White Sox and Cubs fans, being able to share all the positive and negative emotions together. That would be fucking incredible.

My guy, it was poking fun.

Also, aspire to be something more than NY's subway.

I think what you describe here is pure fantasy.

Yeah it either has to be the Crosstown series or the El Series.

Maybe the bar being exactly half and half, but not at all. If they both made the world series, it would be electric in this city

I’ve only heard “redline series.”  Anyway, it would be the most terrifying sporting event of my life.  The upside so high and the downside so low.

The downside is too great, even though I'd love to beat the Cubs in a World Series.  I don't think I could ever live down the Sox losing one to them...  Would rather not risk it.

Pfft, this is just pathetic. Can't believe so many people are that terrified of the Cubs winning. Strange.

Remember we’ve already won one “crosstown series”, so we have a buffer

El Series ? Is that Spanish ? Perfect for our team !

Oh and before anyone tells me , I do know the  El or L is short for the Elevated trains.

I don't know if the fans would share the emotions. Somebody might end up getting their face beaten in, though.

I don’t see the Cubs making it. They have 1 pitcher.

Maybe because some of us aren't secretly Cubs fans?  ??

Nor do I.  And I actually think this is the Cubs’ last best chance.  If it doesn’t happen this year I don’t think it will ever happen.

But seriously, if the White Sox beat the Cubs in the World Series, do we also get to hoist the BP cup?

Low.

I've never heard it called the Subway series for anywhere but NYC, because subway or elevated its all colloquially the Subway.  And no one refers to anything but the actual subway as the subway in Chicago.

Also, 'EL to Subway to EL to Subgrade In The Middle Of The Expressway' doesn't really have the same ring to it.
