This is a great hire for the Sox.

Really awesome write up by Fegan and sounds like a really nice addition.

Fan of the staff Tony has put together thus far.

For sure. I was a big hater on his signing, but the follow through has been basically flawless since. I really hope young talent can blossom under these new hires.

Hopefully he can help Collins become a solid backup C.

I don’t have article access, but thanks for posting. Any key points shared would be greatly appreciated. I created a thread regarding catcher development as an opportunity for improvement on Saturday, and this is exactly what I was looking for (the hire and information).

Domestic draft player acquisition and position development have been the two crucial areas the White Sox have been lagging successful franchises.

The recent improvement in draft selections, and the hiring of “modern” coaching staff such as Katz and Narron (and hopefully more/others) give me hope the White Sox can develop a consistent flow of ML ready talent and keep the White Sox as relevant contenders beyond a brief 2-4 year window.

Kudos to Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams for continuing to shift the franchise into modern day talent evaluation and development.

Upon first reading I definitely thought John Kruk was the head athletic trainer.  I was confused.

Yes, I'm sure McKay could fix Eloy's defense in a couple weeks. It's just that easy to do.

A coach who could add 1 WAR to a player’s output in a matter of weeks should be paid in millions.

I still think the idea of Flowers/Lucroy as a backup catcher and Mercedes as the 3rd catcher/DH to start the season is best.  If and when Vaughn is ready we have given a fair showcase for those NL teams or if Mercedes is overwhelming we have Vaughn as the super trade chip.  Collins gets to catch every day at AAA and further developed.
