Did I ever mention how great I think TLR is and that we should give him some more love?

It will take a lot more than you. @Chicago White Sox tried it in the OP to start the game thread. Big fail on that one . Nice effort though.

  • If he is truly hurt then maybe we can back off the dick ripping at the white sox for not signing him.

Even the guys Soxtalk wanted are getting seriously hurt. I think it's all our fault.

  • I'm young and invincible. Wasn't that pretty much all of us in our 20s though? I know I did stuff then that fell into that category all the time. Us old people have the advantage of looking back

This will go down as the biggest agent/player miscalculation of all time.  First he turns a long term deal with Mets for about $100mm then turns down QO of $18.4mm.

Jaun Gonzalez might have a case here.

Well, he should be the most motivated player in baseball next season…

I doubt the market is big for a 30 year old coming off a year where he didn’t play at all due to injury and the season before was an average starter.

Jermaine Dye and AJ and Carl Everett and Pods and Iguchi weren't in high demand when the Sox picked them up either.  That's how you can get excess value rather than overpaying.

Jenks? Contreras? 2021 Rodon?  Completely given up on by most of MLB front offices...

So he likely waits until the offseason to sign with someone right? Or does a team draw up a contract similar to some TJ free agent pitchers where they get a 2 year deal with the first year obviously being lost due to injury (signed after draft of course so no loss of draft pick) where they can let him rehab for the rest of the year with an organization?

Well, that's what teams have done with guys like Garrett Richards, but it hasn't exactly worked out according to plan.

I think if anything teams will wait for the draft to pass, and then engage his camp on something long term, with a bit of cash this year as an enticement.

Remember when we coulda just signed Joc Pederson for $6M-$7M in both of the previous 2 off-season's and avoided this whole mess?
