Mena day.

No Colas again.  Not even listed on the roster for the GameDay on MiLB

He's injured per Jimmy.

No Moncada tonight.

Mena gives up a single, walks one, but also strikes out three in the first.

Second inning for Mena includes a wall scraper HR, a walk, a groundout, a single, and 2 fly outs.

Alsander Womack is a uniquely shaped second baseman.

If I had to describe Andrew Dalquist starts in one word, it would be "laborious."

Groundout, double, walk, and two strikeouts in the 3rd for Mena.

Mena strikes out the side. 8 strikeouts through 4.

I'm really interested to see where Mena will be on midseason lists if he keeps dominating like this. His K rate will be in the mid 30s% after tonight's start. Doing that as a 19 year old in Kanny is so impressive.

Mena done.

Interesting that Charlotte decided to use an opener in front of McClure tonight

I think it's really encouraging how comfortable he seems to be throwing the breaking stuff. And he throws strikes. The fastball sits around 92 MPH per the broadcast, but it sure seems like he has the frame to add size and some velocity. Baseball America's scouting report notes as much.

Wilber Sanchez inside the park HR. That's fun.

Ramos works a walk. Sure seems like they aren't giving him much to hit lately. Plenty of breaking junk out of the zone and away.

James Beard HR.

Yermin is back!

Although he's just an org guy, I think Tyler Neslony deserves a promotion to Charlotte. Dude has been raking ever since joining the org last season.

Sosa walking more, striking out less, and hitting for more power is an interesting development.

Funny since he has way less eyes and fanfare this year. He always seems to adjust.

definitely nice having more young prospects where we see them improve through their promotions, not just atrophy level by level after dominating great falls like the Hostetler college drafts.

Lenyn Sosa in 23 games at the pitchers park in AA has 4 HRs and a .936 OPS while being fairly young for AA (22 years old). The guy has always adjusted and hit. I saw the fangraphs prospect rankings that questioned his athleticism and ability to stay at SS. Regardless, it's exciting to see the guy do this well. Seems like he'll have a future as a utility player, at least.
