  • The plan: hire a hitting coach that tells his players to only hit singles so the organization can save on their fireworks budget.

  • That whole inning escalated cause Lucas and Grandal got cute to the 7th hitter after having him 0-2. Just throw the damn fastball by him if he doesn't go after 1 change up. Instead they depended on th

Ok I'll be that guy. Wear the cap straight and you might be able to find the ball.

I mean what pitcher wouldn't be pissed? That's a fairly routine catch for a ML outfielder and Eloy didn't even come close.

Lucas got screwed that inning by the umpire and Eloy.

If you don’t like the defense strike someone out then.  He should’ve called it but the guy hit it 370 feet the opposite way so he wasn’t exactly fooled

We've probably had more SAC flies today than we've had in the past month.

Someone might actually hit a home run tonight.

Pitch was right down the plate

Greene actually missed it. That ball should have been hit 450 feet.

this is just not a good pitcher.  Keeps getting ahead and then missing too much.  Really wish they’d ditch the slider for the curve

Detroit has given Lucas trouble cause they straight up sit on his change up and just flick it into the OF in 2 strikes counts.

Oh look, another awful slider

Another hanging slider.

I was looking at what the biggest difference between the last 3 years and this year for Giolito is. It's his fastball. He had a lot more carry on it the last 3 years vs this year. It makes everything else easier for hitters to read and react to.

Can’t finish anyone off

Lucas just not getting it done this year

I could be wrong but when Lucas was successful he was heavy fastall/change up. It seems to be fastball/slider this year.

wow, some competent baseball and base running; this has actually been one of the more enjoyable half innings this year

Didn’t mind Super Joe sending Leury with 2 outs.  It forced the Tigers to make a play, and it worked for us.

He really should be non-tendered and the money spent on a better pitcher, but we know they won’t do that.

Lack of sticky stuff = less carry. If you don't have high velo like Lucas, late movement is the only way you can strike guys out on the pitch consistently.

He was successful when he could use the sticky stuff

He really blows

They really nibbled against that guy who hit a fastball right down the middle weakly to 3B...

Adjust and not call for a change up with 2 strikes.

Lucas is a solid #5.

Giolito and Moncada are two guys I would never trust with a big contract. Eloy is in that group as well right now.

The combination of injuries and MLB changing the rules/balls has basically killed the Sox.

Yes indeed was a cookie right down the middle with bases loaded.  I thought it was going to be a grand slam.

2020 vs 2022. Not saying that the sticky stuff wasnt a factor though.
