Another Comeback White Sox Winner !!

I know the pitching matchups aren't favorable, but the Sox really need to win one of these last two. 3-1 vs the Astros sends a message.

It probably was Miguel Cairo reminding TLR to put Engel in.

Two ER on a Little League double that any of us could have caught.  Well, some of us.

I thought the one to center would have been caught by a regular CF as well

Great win! That is now 5 in a row and first time this season 5 games over 500. The team actually for once showed enthusiasm and fire on the field and in the dugout! Thank you Cueto and McGuire and others for opening their eyes.

I hate to be negative, but this lack of long ball power is going to eventually keep this team from going far in the playoffs. We had 10 hits (9 singles and 1 double). Only 2 BB's, because several players are still swinging wildly at pitches way outside the zone. We are hitting too many groundball outs. Yes some of those groundballs got though for hits, but that is not something to count on consistently as a winning formula.

We need to get some power going and hit the damn ball out of the park, like we did a few seasons ago. The winning teams in this league do that. Currently the Sox are 27th in home runs per at bat at 40.17. The top teams in this stat are:

1    NY Yankees    20.43
2    Atlanta            22.14
3    Houston         24.54
4    Milwaukee     24.54
5    LA Dodgers    25.32
6    Philadelphia  25.79
7    Toronto          26.69

It is important to note the last time we hit home runs a lot was 2020. We were 6th in the league at 21.38.

Btw, here is another scary fact. There are 17 teams in MLB over 500 which includes the Sox. Of those 17 teams, the Sox are the only team with a negative run differential.

All that is why I want Colas up and give Sosa AB's. He can't keep getting behind in counts all the time. When he starts getting ahead in some of them I expect better results.

He may not look ready but he's up here and has power.

Kopech is a good pitching match up.

Yankees are 23-30 in their last 53, Astros are obviously not unbeatable, and the Central/WC are there for the taking.

Making the playoffs is no guarantee, but anyone who thinks the ALCS is a Yankees/Astros guarantee is not looking great. The whole AL is up for  grabs to whoever can get hot

We have the pitching to compete in the playoffs.  We need everybody back healthy and scoring runs.

5 over .500…one game out of both the division and wild card.  Amazing turn of events over the past week.  Cueto has awakened this team.

And without Anderson and Robert and with awful defense. Strong pitching and some clutch hitting is carrying us through.
