Looks like Cairo, Menechino and Narron out of work for now.  McEwing to Cards' bench coach as favorite/prodigal son returns to Cardinal Nation.

Narron is working on the Angels' farm. Cairo is with the Mets'.

FYI, Leury was the longest tenured player even when Jose was here.

I can't wait for the Leury statue.

On August 11, 2013, the Rangers traded García to the Chicago White Sox as the player to be named later in the trade that sent Alex Ríos to Texas. He was then optioned to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights.[10] The White Sox promoted García on August 22.[11] In 20 games with Chicago in 2013, he hit .204 with 1 RBI and 6 SB.

Basically about one month longer.  Similar statistics in 2013 compared to 2022, though.

Better be Pablo Ozuna or Craig Grebeck if (ever) honoring Sox utility guys.

I haven't paid much attention to spring training gamethreads yet. Are we just enjoying baseball being back, or are we onto the phase of teethgnashing about not winning meaningless games?

Seems a mix of happy about baseball being back, cautious curiosity, and jest.  I’m sure the teeth gnashing will come once were a few more games into spring.

Because he also pitched on occasion, the Leury statue should be right next to the speed pitch attraction and if you break 95 mph, Rick Hahn appears to give you a league minimum bullpen contract.

Jerry saves money, Rick builds the bullpen, and Leury's legacy is honored.

They can say all they want, but Sheets just doesn't look right in the OF.

And Sheets lack of range shows itself for the first time in the spring.

Turns out Sheets still isn't viable in RF, huh

Watching him run there was laborious.

His read on Rodriguez's fly ball was also pretty bad.

It *always* looks like he's running in quicksand

Maybe Scholtens can help Charlotte's rotation not be an utter embarrassment this year

AV gets a 2 out single to LF.

Grandal looks to be in much better shape. But the real question is what kind of shape his back is in.

Yaz looked awful on 2 swings, then slaps one to RF.

His swing looked all arms to me in that AB.

TBF, Yaz took bad looking swings when he was still good. He needs his power back to have a come back.
