Any chance they non-tender Vaughn and try Vargas at first? Admittedly he doesn’t hit enough to play 1b, but on the bright side, he doesn’t hit enough to play anywhere else either.

As bad as Vaughn is, isn't he about the average baseball hitter nowadays? The ones that try and lift and pull but wind up around .250 with 20 homers and 70ish RBI? If he can keep knocking in 70-75 runs he'll probably be in baseball a long long mediocre time.

  • Flexen was signed to be the 5th starter on a bad team. Ends with a 4.95 ERA.  Have to say that he did his job.

He was cheap and ate innings. And under control for 2 years. I don’t think it’s a failed signing at all. Much better signing than Clevinger, who never really ate innings in his career.

  • The fact that the Sox did this for Flexen will get around the other MLB clubhouses. That can pay dividends down the line.

greg would pass a test on the White Sox and flunk one on the Cubs and Royals. I probably know as much as any Sox fan out there who doesn't belong to this board as I'm not as well versed on the prospects coming up.

But what about the puppeteer behind Greg?
