9/26 Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1:10PM - final home game

The frustrating thing is that while this team is awful the starting pitching was good enough to not have this be a record breaking year.  Grifol and Getz are awful and possibly the worst ever but there was enough talent to win 60

  • Flexen was signed to be the 5th starter on a bad team. Ends with a 4.95 ERA.  Have to say that he did his job.

He was cheap and ate innings. And under control for 2 years. I don’t think it’s a failed signing at all. Much better signing than Clevinger, who never really ate innings in his career.

  • The fact that the Sox did this for Flexen will get around the other MLB clubhouses. That can pay dividends down the line.

I dig watching the Sox win.

If we can extend the season by 6 months, we may be a playoff team.    It's a shame we are peaking after 155 games.

Ramos seems to be hitting the ball hard. Hope he starts for them next year.

Sosa has been hot the past month.

He sure has. .351/.372/.518 in 21 games. .378/.410/.649 over the last two weeks (11 games). I hope he figured something out and this isn't just a late season blip.

It would follow his minor league career path. I banged that drum for a long time until the 2024 White Sox destroyed all joy I had.

Would they bench Vargas for Ramos…or play Vargas at second instead?

Baldwin at second, maybe?  One of the three seems to be the odd man out unless they force Baldwin to SS where he would be pretty abysmal defensively as an everyday player?

But then where Sosa?

probably Baldwin to AAA but that infield defense will still be a total mess…albeit cheap as hell

To be fair, if Jack López wasn’t a colossal joke he would have given up zero runs through 5.

Am I in the wrong game thread? That was last night. This is a blowout.

Sosa up to .250/629.

Iriarte breezes through the 8th on 11 pitched with a K.

He might get the 9th too unless they give it to Eder.

Forgive me. I forgot they put him at SS for some reason. Yeah that was a terrible error and you’re absolutely right.

Please preserve the shutout lol.  No Eder.

Yes, the pitching is just bad. The offense is what is historically awful. The OPS of the 29th offense is closer to number 13 then we are to number 29.

They should have been playing him every day no matter what. And honestly, probably should open with him at 2B next year.

Don’t read too much into beating this s%*# team.

I easily tender Flexen a contract next year (he has 2 years of control remaining). They need arms anyway.

Vargas should probably DH, assuming he learns the "H" part.

Isn’t Vargas better at second than third?  Then Ramos is blocked…maybe rightfully so, but Vargas hasn't exactly outplayed anyone.

Dh Benintendi…Vargas to LF lol.

I hope Crochet is pitching tomorrow. I also hope they bring up Schultz to pitch the last 4 innings for his MLB debut.

F#$k the record.

Crochet is pitching tomorrow but no way in hell they add Shultz to the 40 . He's done for the year. Highly doubt Schultz pitches on the majors till 2026 health and performance permitting.

Flexen has pitched better than his numbers say.

He was really, really bad in ~450 PA from 2022-2024, so I was starting to think he was just not an MLB player and there was no "learning period" for him in the pros. I would love to be wrong.

Drury with an astounding 476 ops would be a good buy low candidate if they dump Sheets/Vaughn.

He was really pretty decent the last 2-3 years, overall.

Finish 27th ahead of TB Miami Oakland.

Players stuck around and threw out t shirts to the fans. Vargas stayed extra long throwing out shirts and signing autographs after all the other position players left. Pretty cool. New Yoan. I hope he figures out how to play baseball.
