Gavin Sheets to Padres, India Times not a reliable source

The fact that the Padres have no confidence in their own ability to draft and develop somebody with even the limited expectations that Sheets carries telegraphs trouble in the Padre organization. If I had even a passing rooting interest in that team, I would be really concerned. And depressed.

They would be #8 in baseball fWAR-wise based on never trading any of their draft picks or intl guys.

They're especially high on deVrieze right now.

The James Wood/Gore trade remains their biggest risk for Soto...that back fired because Juan underperformed in SD.

Yeah, it's fun to pretend that the past didn't happen, and everybody gets to keep all their best players they traded away, ill-advisedly.

Keith Law just ranked the Padres system in the next-to-bottom tier of systems. That's bad. And concerning. deVries also seems injury-prone, and the Padres are rushing him out of desperation. Maybe they want to trade him before the late owner's widow claims him in a settlement. The fact that other teams acquire their prospects, and it takes a year just to start fixing their bad habits. I'd be really concerned about the Padres. And depressed.

You're forgetting everyone here doubts that Tatis would have developed the same way with the Sox...they went all in and gutted their system last year and had the Dodgers down 2-1 and a bullpen start and let them get away.

Do you want a team that's not afraid to challenge LA or one that just is perpetually rebuilding like the Rockies?

Just look at the respective attendance numbers for the answer to that question ...

Now just imagine how depressed you would be if the Padres were your favorite team and they set a record for losses last season rather than winning 93 games.  🤣

You can hear that kind of sad story every night at the bar of any Indiana casino. "Then a damn 5 thrower shows up to the table." Strange that the White Sox basically gifted their three best players to them, and they haven't been able to do anything beyond that, since. Maybe throwing boatloads of money at any player sports radio squawks over isn't really the best way to run a franchise. I wonder how big an appetite the audience will have for lawsuit themed game headlines in the San Diego Union-Tribune. I'm not going to lie. I don't envy their fanbase. Jurickson Profar should have been a tip-in. Jason Heyward probably thought he had a platoon job lined up for the season. Now Gavin Sheets shows up?

I'd be very concerned. And depressed.

Weird. I'm a Sox fan, and I'm not depressed about that. I guess, being an adult, I know what to expect during a rebuild. It would be catastrophic if San Diego did that last year. I guess they can root for Xander Bogaerts' big paychecks. And now the group of owners is going to fight over who gets the right to slap Padre fans in the face.

What a s%*# show.

I'd be concerned. And depressed.

Or they can cheer for Jackson Merrill at 21 years old playing like an MVP candidate at a new position.

Machado likely in the HoF.

Arraez winning batting titles.

Cease Darvish King and one of the best bullpens in baseball.

Tatis isn't too bad, either.

Pure s%*# show...nothing like the product in Chicago right now.

I guess when your team has never won a World Series, and probably won't in our lifetimes, now, wondering which hat Machado will have on his plaque is the only rooting interest left. It really depends on who will trade for that contract this summer.

Are Cease, King and Darvish even going to be around on August 1? Maybe the Dodgers can grab them up for dimes on the dollar. I heard that as Jackson Merrill grows and fills out, he'll probably be moved to a corner. Or 1B. Maybe they can extend Cronenworth to prove they want to win.

The Padres are like a more dysfunctional Rockies, right now. I hope the widow doesn't start filing injunctions to stop games from being played.

I'd be really concerned. And depressed.

Padres are just like the Rockies...well, you lost everyone right there.  But they're MORE dysfunctional lol?

The Rockies are at 0.0% to make the playoffs yet again.

If you're worried about bad contracts...well there's Kris Bryant.

Their fans are probably currently worried about two people arguing who even owns the team, with one accusing the other of sabotage.
