Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox

There’s a reason nothing has been built there since it was railroad yard, I’m not sold on it being a place that would cure all the Sox woes.
I’m thinking of the suburbs like the Braves entertainment area or even building a jewel of a ballpark on the site of old Comiskey with an emphasis on building up the area along with a modern day Comiskey with no upper deck in left field so the skyline would be visible, of course no posts and the lower bowl with seats down the lines facing the infield, Busch Stadium in St.Louis would be a good model but as I said with no UD in left field. PNC Park would also be a great model without the huge scoreboard in left field as that would block out views of the skyline.
Somehow the fan base must return to past levels, that’s a monumental task as Reinsdorf has basically destroyed it, Ishbia if he buys the franchise is going to have to spend a lot of money and bring in quality free agents and give the fans some kind of hope.

Yes there is.  Much like Block 37 staying empty for decades, its a huge plot of land with a complex history and instead of filling it with the easiest project, they keep trying to maximize it with the biggest possible projects in order to make a signature project.  Nothing was wrong with Block 37 and yet it was still empty.  They keep swinging for the fences in this spot as well, and we all know what happens when you swing for the fences... most of the time you miss.

To be honest, the dream is Ishbia coming in, building a beautiful new park at the 78, and having a couple mega free agents to supplement young core.  I love going to the Rate but it’s time for a new,

As in, there's no real reason to install infrastructure for a strip mall of pawn shops and OTBs?

It happens.  Heck in my hometown we have a 3 block area which was a hospital for like 150 years.  It was torn down in the 90's.  If they had just let it go to R1 or R2, it would have been instantly sucked up and built on.  Instead they have been looking for something big to re-complete the area, all of the way down to wanting a small grocery store to be an anchor tenant with street side businesses on top of an 8-10 story residential tower building, including some affordable housing.  There is nothing wrong with the lot that should have left it empty for 30 years, but their ambitions are bigger than the marketplace has been historically.  It's not a vast conspiracy to hoist this property on some unsuspecting sucker, it's just an ambitious goal.

I think a new owner would be like drafting a QB 1-1. It would excite the fanbase tremendously, and would probably increase attendance immediately. There would be a "youre not jerry Reinsdorf" party for a couple of seasons at least.  Eventually the honeymoon ends, so hopefully Ishbia is more Peyton Manning than Mitch Trubisky.

I will take my chances on Caleb Williams being better than Henry Burris, who has a lifetime contract.

Block 37 is a great example.

As far as the 78 goes, I'll also add that perhaps one big obstacle to getting it developed so far is the alignment of the Rock Island Metra tracks.  The current alignment makes the site inaccessible from Clark St. without an at-grade crossing.  So, I'm guessing that a big project is needed to justify the cost of lowering the grade of the tracks to open up access from Clark.

I’d settle for Archie Manning.

We've essentially got Cooper Manning at the helm right now so things can only get better from here, right?

In this case construction fences. I agree. I appreciate when a locality of any size had a master plan.

Something you might not know: The Dodgers' luxury-tax payroll is currently projected around $399 million, according to Baseball Prospectus. At that number, they would pay around $150 million in penalties. Which means the Dodgers right now are carrying nearly a $550 million payroll for 2025 -- more than the combined salaries of the Marlins, White Sox, A's, Rays, Pirates and Guardians.

The Phoenix Suns are reeling right now, and are playing more like a team that is dreaming of Cancun than the play-in tournament. It has been a long season - and unfortunately for them - we're not quite at the finish like yet. The Suns finding themselves in 11th spot in the Western Conference, stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The Dallas Mavericks above them continue to do just enough to hold onto the final play-in spot, despite having the worst six week stretch of any professional sports team ever. Kind of impressive that the Suns can't overtake that when you think about it. Failure to do so will see Phoenix hand over a valuable first-round pick to the Houston Rockets as well, a nightmare scenario.

I was, but trying to be the first one on the “he’s the worst owner in sports” bandwagon for the Sox.

Nobody cares about the suns

Except those attempting to understand what kind of owner the brother will be lol...

What other context is there to look at Justin?

Extrapolating his investment style into a baseball front office strategy???

Only the person who searches “Ishbia” every morning for a desperate attempt to continue posting in this thread cares about what nonsense it is that you just posted.  Perfect Venn diagram with you

So basically you don't have anything to contribute as usual but snarky comments.

Apparently being vigilant about information pertaining to the future owner is beneath you.

Instead...your seeming goal is to draw out Cali in a debate about why the mods (minus Texsox) mostly seem to gain more enjoyment from belittling others.

I don't think you've even been in a single spring training game thread.

Why even bother if you don't like the team or players?

I really feel legitimately sorry for those who have to deal with you in daily life...Or maybe you just take out your frustrations on strangers online and are a decent person otherwise, who knows?

Hey look, caulfield mentioning other people because he can’t fight his own fights.  Go figure.

im not here to justify my existence to you lmao.  No sir, I will post where I want to, hopefully somewhere your nonsense doesn’t permeate.

Just list one single insight about the Sox or baseball that someone has liked in the last year or two that you have added...?

About the NFL or NBA maybe.

Baseball related...?

Don't think so.

Go ahead...please put me on ignore, I would prefer that so much, really.

Buddy if I could put you on ignore I wouldn’t have reacted to you for the last 20 years.  That’s a true fact

should I list some Puig facts for you ?  Maybe I can talk about Iowa basketball in this thread?  Maybe I should bring up Britney Spears for you?  Let me know which inane subject I should follow you with

Maybe if the Sox provided fans anything interesting to talk about for the past decade plus...

There's more interesting debate here about the NBA or NFL recently.

People used to be able to talk about politics in a fairly nuanced and objective way until 2015.

Or about movies and tv shows.

I have never in my entire life ventured a solitary opinion thought or concern about Britney Spears.  Go ahead and search for one.

As for Clark, I'm clearly the only Iowan proud of someone whose BB elevated the women's Final Four over the men's ratings (wasn't even that close) for the first time in the history of the sport.  Reddit and various Iowa/Fever boards have thousands and thousands more posts about her than all the combined Sox boards still remaining active in cyber space.

And as for Puig...he was exciting for baseball at least.  He was part of numerous Dodgers teams that averaged 99 wins for the past 12 years.  It's not like I spent 100's of posts on Jared Kelenic or Gavin Lux lol.

I will be moderately surprised if we know anything today.  Answering questions and giving out information freely isn't something the White Sox really do.

Back on track here...  No new information.  SURPRISE!
