Kanny just so good offensively. 6 base runners already in 1.2. 2 bb for Bonemer. By the all star break, he may be Sox top prospect. Braden Montgomery bb and a great throw from cf so far. They lead 2-1. Coul’ve scored more, but they have a great team approach.

Bonemer being ranked ahead of Braden and Teel doesn't seem like a very good thing...has to do it at Winston-Salem before he really rockets in rankings.

I disagree. High school player expected to be a top round pick who was up and down in his senior year looking this good is only for the good. Tools wise Bonemer > Montgomery > Teel, so having the guy with the loudest tools thrive is all good. I love my looks at Braden, btw. But the question with Bonemer was the swing. High school players jump up ranking in low A all the time. Hard for a college guy to do that, but again, Bonemer is 19 and really looks like he belongs.

How is the swing, though?  That's the issue, as you said.

On another matter, I realize Charlotte is probably the best market in the minors, but I wish the Sox would get out of there.   The pitching sucks; hitting numbers are mostly meaningless.  Should have stayed in Nashville.

When were the White Sox ever in Nashville?  After they left Vancouver...I hardly remember it, always think of them as the AA/Southern League team, whereas the White Sox had Birmingham for ages.

The biggest factor was saving money by having all the minor league teams in the Carolinas/Virginia area...at one point even Bristol in the Appalachian League.

Yeah, it was 1993-1997...when they were the White Sox AAA affiliate and Birmingham was the Southern League (Michael Jordan/Francona years).

Montgomery strikes out in 2 of 5 ABs, so I refuse to give him any credit until he can combine some hitting with sustainable K rate even on a single-game basis.

He needs to string together a bunch of good contact games.

Why would it be a bad thing?

Because if Montgomery and Teel aren't absolute studs, this rebuild is in SERIOUS trouble...before even getting properly started.

If Bonemer keeps performing how he is as a 19 year old who could feasibly start his career at SS, he could leapfrog those two even if they perform well.

My thought is that Braden Montgomery looks like a stud. Bonemer looks just as good or better. That can’t be a bad thing.  Teel is more of a decent regular, maybe with occasional all star potential. He is not as athletically gifted as those other guys.

B.Montgomery has all the tools except blazing speed, and he has a 60 arm, yes?   And he's clearly fast/rangy enough to play CF in A ball, which is a big positive (so far).

See where Bonemer's mostly ranked at 55 for arm and 50 for fielding...well, we shall see.  It would be nice to actually have a SS capable of playing on both sides of the ball for once.   Power is not the question, but the actual consistency of the hit tool and/or contact.

Personally, I would have some reservations about Teel AND Quero simply because nobody can catch more than 100-120 games per year (at least post steroids), so that's going to hurt some of their positional value as catchers if they're sharing time there and at 1B/DH.

It's not the biggest problem in the world to have, but not ideal either.

As I've said a number of times, High A is really going to be the question for Bonemer...how well he responds there.

I think the White Sox might keep him at Kanny at least until the June All-Star Break, but they might push him even harder than that.  Time will tell...we shall see.

Braden Montgomery’s arm is a 70 or maybe higher. He has an absolute cannon. Held a runner on a single to center by throwing a pea chest high to the catcher. One of the better outfield arms in all of baseball. Bonemer has looked very good in the field. Strong arm. No doubt he stays on the left side. I think he’s made one error this year. Fast runner, so he currently has plenty of range but he is a huge guy, so I can see why people say he may not profile there. They both are what it looks like. Good scouting by the Sox.
